::I’m attaching 4 screenshots just to show the importance of ‘index.theme‘ file inside SOME_ICON_THEME folder.
It doesn’t matter which distribution or the icon theme it is — it’s valid for all.
In my example, it’s XFCE and the Paper icons (much easier to show on XFCE).
Eventually, might come handy to somebody.
On the following 4 screenshots, you see: ‘What you get if … and then the reason’ and again ‘What you get if … and then the reason’ for that behavior.

::I found one new Icon that I really do like, and that’s the BIG GREEN CHECKMARK to Apply changes. On Gparted and Screen Resolution that’s a good change

::I keep seeing screenshots of MX when this post is about antiX19 are you planing on making antiX look like MX ? Why can’t users just mod they own antiX and make look the way they want. I like the fact that antiX is not like most other Linux systems and look the same as each other. If this is going to be case I will say with antiX 17 its a beautiful system just the way it is now. This is a system for modders and that why I love it..

::What I not say no to is a antiX19 stable and a antiX19 buster version. I like buster sound better than gay testing.
All systems are all ready testing.

::@Koo
Why can’t users just mod they own antiX and make look the way they want.
Are you sure that you understood what my post was about? That was more some sort of tipp on ‘how to’ than ‘Why can’t users just mod …’. It says clearly:
It doesn’t matter which distribution or the icon theme it is — it’s valid for all. … much easier to show on XFCE …
It just happend that it was the only one ‘free for playing with’ to make my examplary screenshots on.
It was the example for ‘index.theme‘ editing, not for the icons or WM itself.
It’s also a ‘picture example’ for # 20969.
This is a system for modders and that why I love it.
antiX is definitely not for modders or only for a very ‘hardcore modders’. Not many systems around a harder to mod than antiX (== that’s why example on XFCE).

::My point was that I don’t want to modify it to get a reasonable icon that makes it easy for me to know what to expect the machine to do if I click it. I want to KNOW what to expect in the first place, without waiting for a hover based hint to pop up. I didn’t like the old (17.x) icon for Apply changes, and DO like the new icon. To be honest WHICH big green checkmark icon from the myriad on that page would be much less important to me.
BTW, I tried again on one of the machines where WiFi didn’t work, and I I JUST go into conman, select wireless, turn it on, and connect, it does work.
What didn’t work anymore was turning off WiCd on the flashdrive boot, and going into Ceni to setup roaming WiFi and then using WPA_Supplicant to connect. That no longer works at all.
I haven’t looked at the memory usage for conman yet. Hopefully its reasonable.

::Thanks for clarifying, anti. I just wasn’t sure if me turning on the nowicd boot option on the USB initially caused my no WiFi problem. The wicd options probably should be removed from the boot options list.
Since conman doesn’t seem to use much memory, maybe it would make sense to remove ceni and wpa_supplicat from the control centre if they will no longer work. Even I (as cheap as I am) can spare 1.8 mb for conman if it works easily, which it did.
If those were eliminated, my only problems left would be the flashing conky tab and double login, neither of which are major, but should be fixed.
I assume you noticed the memory requirements overall have increased a lot. It seems like that is coming mostly from OS overhead, but I didn’t analyze it in detail. I would suggest experimenting with slim to try to reduce the ongoing memory required. For most people, having no background screen (which saves a good chunk of memory) would look TOO ugly, but maybe there is a way to have it use memory when its displayed, and give it back after you are past the login.
Thanks again for your efforts, even if you sometimes ignore my ideas 🙂 PS: Maybe my ideas aren’t always so great in your eyes, LOL, so its ok

::wicd is not installed, but nowicd is still offered with the F4 options in the live-boot-screen.
I can also confirm that ceni doesn’t work for me anymore.May 5, 2019 at 11:14 am #21182Forum Admin

::Seems like connman and ceni don’t play nice together. If you remove connman, then ceni works (after a reboot)
