Just opening this thread to say that antix works great on these 2 year old 100$ mini pc boxes, I have a 2 gb ram , 32gb disk version.
Way faster than lubuntu , I can even play games such Mount and Blade warband at medium-high settings..
All you have to do, is to install the 64 bit version after manually partionining (100mb fat32 boot, 2 Giga swap) a recent kernel (currently i have 5.6) , pulseaudio for the audio card to work, and do the same trick as for debian ubuntu for the wifi to work: download this link then take that file and copy it to /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt.

Welcome. antiX is very resource efficient, but it may take some work to get it to work as you want it. It really is magic for old and cheap equipement.

I’ve got two little mini-pc’s that really take advantage of antiX – even with the 4.9 shipping kernel.

Even though the Cherry Trail is considered old, the UEFI-only bios on mine were dated from 2019. Was really happy to see antiX have zero problems with uefi-only. So modern, using older tech. No legacy / csm options.

Mine came with Windows 10, which I already have duplicated somewhere else, so I blew that out. HOWEVER, as a warning to others who may pick these up, there is no need to change the bios “operating system” from Windows to android! Just leave it as windows – antiX will boot fine.

If you change it to “android”, then you’ll lock it up tigher than a drum, and have to go through a special reset procedure, big pita.

I don’t use the onboard 32gb essd as a boot device – I just formatted it for simple storage. I still prefer to use antiX with usb-stick booting and all those cool persistence tools crafted like a fine local beer. 🙂 But that’s just my preference.
