Upgraded on 12 December 2020. Rebooted.
Set wallpaper to random-timed. Let it cycle a few times. Clicked icon in system tray to kill random wallpaper timed.
System immediately logged me out (lost all open programs). Upon login, timed wallpaper still running (not static – I waited, to verify).
Re-initiated wallper-antix & set to no wallpaper (black color). After a short time (probably 5 minutes) wallpaper appeared & continues to cycle. (Icon still in system tray.)
EDIT: Clicked kill icon again – immediately logged out. But after logging back in, system tray icon for timed wallpaper is now gone, and the solid black background is displayed.

::I have the same experience as christophe (clicking the wallpaper icon in system tray will log me out).
The wallpaper-antix icon (in toolbar) doesn’t go away when using the wallpaper-antix program and selecting a static image.
Rebooting will make it disappear.
Do we need to reinstall desktop-session antiX and replace ~/.desktop-session with the one in /etc/skel?The desktop-session log (starting a session, selecting timed random wallpaper, clicking the systray icon and re-login):

Speculation: My guess is that it tries to modify the desktop-code.0 and removes it instead, and then tries to restart the session, but there is no desktop-code.0 file, so it logs out. .
Let us know what we need to do.

::OK both should be fixed.
https://gitlab.com/antiX-Linux/wallpaper-antix/-/merge_requests/6If you would like to try before it is released via the repos then you can download “wallpaper” and “desktop-session-wallpaper” from my gitlab here
https://gitlab.com/antiX-Dave/wallpaper-antix/-/tree/master/bin
Copy them to /usr/local/bin/ with execute permissions.Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening Windows. ~Author Unknown

::Thanks Dave. The wallpaper icon no longer appears and breaks the session. And the timer stops after selecting static again.
Very fast fix. Thanks.I may wait for the latest build, but I think there is another bug related to random wallpaper changing the main WM background instead of the Desktop-icon handler (rebooting after setting the timer). I will check again later.

::Is this on the testing repo? I now have a system up to date on that where I’ve tried static and random timed, and not having any problems. I like that it doesn’t use much memory.

::It is working now, on my testing system.
Also nice slide-bar for timed wallpaper switching. And a selectable option in the GUI for just a solid color background. Very nice!

::Yes, I tested the slide bar as well. That’s a nice touch 🙂
I brought up the color screen, and created a custom color. Selecting or creating custom colors work, but there is a problem where the apply button doesn’t put them on the screen.
Changing the default folder from the options menu does work, but I would prefer the initial default be a folder under my /home, whether ~/Wallpaper or ~/Pictures/wallpaper, or something like that (ie if there is a Linux convention for wallpaper under /home already, that would be good), and then have a link in that folder to the standard distro wallpaper folder. That way it comes set, but if the user asks to change it, it defaults to a place they can download wallpaper pics to, but still easily select the default ones. Just my opinion there…

::BobC, about the custom color choosing & applying:
Selecting or creating custom colors work, but there is a problem where the apply button doesn’t put them on the screen.
Would you explain that differently? I just did it, but I didn’t see an issue – I think it’s working properly for me. (I’m trying to report any issues on gitlab, that’s all).
EDIT: I think I see it now. Previously “created” custom colors do not show up correctly to switch & choose an old custom color, although it gives the listing of custom colors. (Is that coherent??)
The custom colors list (squares) are not always showing the correct color chosen. For example, it shows a beige square, and when I choose it & click select, the screen preview window shows a previous custom color I created, but not beige (greenish). I can apply, and that greenish color (as in the preview window) becomes the background. The issue is the “custom colors squares/thumbnails” not being accurately presented.
This was in jwm/icewm/fluxbox desktops.
(Actually, I think this may be different from what you found, BobC.)

::Bobc it is also working for me. I did not see this thread till now.
What session are you using?
Also could you set it to colour / no wallpaper, press apply, then run desktop-session-wallpaper in a terminal to see if there are any errors?
What is the colour code for the colour you are trying and/or could you post ~/.desktop-session/wallpaper.conf?Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening Windows. ~Author Unknown
