Funny that I installed antiX on a 2004 IBM Thinkpad R50 (Pentium M – 500 MB RAM) on October 15th. I installed the 17.4 (Helen Keller) release, which I really, really liked. It was clean and allowed my laptop to work even better than when it was new with Windows XP Pro (it still has the sticker on the bottom).

Today I did a clean install of release 19. I was greatly disappointed with the default wallpaper, theme and icons that I saw. I was able to change to ROX-icewm, which seemed to work for me in 17.4, and to a better wallpaper, but I could not find the 17.4 theme and icons. From the 17.4 release, it seems like I need ‘arc-evopro2-theme’ and the Ubuntu icons. I could not find either in the apt-get repository, even after doing an ‘apt-get update’.

Can anyone direct me how to obtain the default 17.4 theme and icons? (The ‘train station’ wallpaper would be nice, but is a lower priority.)

Thanks to PPC and anticapitalista for their responses. My desktop now looks a lot better.

The train station wallpaper can be easily found searching literally “antiX train station wallpaper” on google…
        It links to http://oswallpapers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/metro-station-1024×640-640×480.jpg
Maybe if you dig a little deeper, you’ll get a higher resolution image… Also, I bet someone still has that great wallpaper saved on their HD- I bet even that many people are still running antiX 16…

        Now, about your main problems:
-the theme- of you are using the default desktop IceWM- I believe it’s “Clear blue Medium”- to change it just click the toolbar menu- Themes- C…- and choose your theme
        – the icon theme- to change it you have to go to – Control Centre- … Look and feel –
The widget theme (the interior of the window- like bars, buttons, etc) is Arc-EvoPro2 in antiX 19, too.
The icon theme now is- papirus-antix, the old default was Faenza-Cupertino, not available out of the box on antix 19, you’ll have to download and install it from https://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Faenza-Cupertino?content=129008

The only thing that is “missing” from the new version and is “harder” to get is the wallpaper…
If, for some reason you can’t download the files I mentioned above you can extract them from the original antiX 17.X iso

        I hope I helped you a bit

        P.

The wallaper is available as are the icons.

          apt-get install artwork17-antix faenza-cupertino-mini-icons

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

            Thanks!

metro-station-1024×640-640×480.jpg actually gives the 640×480 version. For the 1024×640 version, use metro-station-1024×640.jpg.
