I’ll try to keep this post short. I’m simply trying to find out if ufw and more importantly gufw (the graphical user interface) is working on Antix 19. Also if so, which version / iso should I download. I’ve tried exhaustively to get gufw to work on Antix 22 with no luck. I’m more than happy to switch to Antix 19 if gufw actually works on it. Searching the forum here, someone said they “thought” it was working on Antix 19 but then it wasn’t carried over into the later updates. Another post I found talked about ufw not working on some versions of Antix 19 due to some incompatible ip-tables. I’m just trying to make sure ufw and gufw are there and working before I do a complete re-install. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just use the terminal?

        sudo ufw enable

        sudo ufw disable

        sudo ufw status

Is there anything else that is needed from gufw that ufw doesn’t provide? My usage of it is, “set it & forget it,” but there are also other options available.

        man ufw

Thanks for your comment. In my situation I really need the gui. I’m trying to setup a large set of advanced rules and its easier to have the gui to see everything that’s going in and out on the network and the ports etc. I’m sure there’s probably a way to do some of that via the terminal, I’m just not very familiar / skilled with using it. I tried installing several other linux firewalls with gui’s as an alternative fix but nothing worked. I was hoping that someone out there using Antix 19 might see this post and be willing to check to see if gufw actually worked or if the other commenter I mentioned above was mistaken.

gufw-legacy is the GUI version used on antiX19.Did you try it? What’s the problem?
            It works here.

Thank you so much for your comment. I just tried to install it on Antix 22 and it said ” The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gufw-legacy : Depends: python-dbus but it is not installable
Depends: python-gobject but it is not installable ”

I’m not sure what the above means but if gufw works on Antix 19 I’ll just switch over to it. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

Yes, on antiX21 gufw (not gufw-legacy) is installed.

There was a problem with ufw on antiX 19, but it was fixed long ago.
