      here`s what happens when i run ceni > select “Hhardware interface” for “wireless” then select “Scan” (I’m not sure if I should select “Roam” instead )

      yes, try roam, exit ceni, then:

      wpa_cli
      add_network
      set_network 0 ssid "House stark"
      set_network 0 psk "YOURPASSWORDHERE"

      also add this to your /etc/network/interfaces

      sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces

      allow-hotplug eth1
      iface eth1 inet manual
              wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa-roam.conf

      iface default inet dhcp

      and restart

        if ceni still doesn’t work, try connect directly:

        $sudo nano /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa-roam.conf

        ctrl_interface=DIR=/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
        update_config=1

        network={
                ssid="House stark"
                psk="YOURPASSWORDHERE"
        }

        $ sudo wpa_supplicant -B -i eth1 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_roam.conf &

          OK I corrected your typo on the wpa_supplicant cmd line to … /wpa_roam & to …/wpa-roam &

          the wpa_supplicant cmd output is :

          Sucessfully initialized wpa_supplicant
          nl80211: driver does not support authentication/association or connect commands
          nl80211: deinit ifname=eth1 disabled_11b_rates=0
          eth1: failed to initialize driver interface

            menu > Applications > System > Network Assistant
            and when i select my wireless card
            the screen indicates “wifi hardware switch is off”

            is this a crazy ?

              (i just realize that antix base may have graphical interface. )

              about the switch, some laptops have a physical wifi switch that you can turn on and off, sometimes is a function (FN) key combination, but if you have a dual boot and it works in MX then it is not probably that its turned off, you can search at the sides of your laptop anyway, or your keyboard.

              about the wpa_supplicant error, its new for me, you can try:

              sudo wpa_supplicant -B -d -Dwext -i eth1 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa-roam.conf &

              but probably not going to work, lest wait if someone have some other ideas

                As a test, I booted to MX without touching any switches and the wifi worked perfectly so it doesn`t seem to be a switch issue,

                Also, when I had 19.1 installed, I was able to connect with connman, which again suggests it`s not a laptop switch issue.

                There’s clearly a major change in how wifi is managed in 19.2 vs 19.1…
                For my PC, MX gets it 100% right, 19.1 gets it half-right and 19.2 seems clue less.

                  Again – did you follow ALL the instructions in the post that caprea (and I) linked to?

                  Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

                  antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

                    Sorry, but when I go click the links you refer to, and extract the info relevant to my issue,
                    I get items 1) and 2) below

                      No. This one.

                      1. Remove connman and cmst

                      sudo apt-get remove --purge connman cmst connman-bluetooth-firmware-antix

                      2. Delete the resolv.conf sym link in /etc/
                      3. Create a new symlink in etc like this (in a terminal)

                      sudo ln -s /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

                      4. Try ceni again

                      Since you are using antiX-19.2-base, cmst is not installed, nor connman-bluetooth-firmware-antix but you should also remove connman-ui in step 1.

                      Good luck.

                              and tried ceni again…very crytic interface ..but finally got a scan list of wifi access points…
                              I selected my access point, entered the info requested and psk…
                              .. got lots of output and and “OK” that my psk was accepted

                                Reboot and if wifi doesn’t start (you may have to wait a short while for it to connect like 20-30 seconds maximum), run ceni again.
