Hi guys,
something that irritates me a lot is the calendar in Antix 19_2 on IceWm.
It works – but if you check the attached screenshot, you probably know what I mean. 😉Why is the calendar showing up in the upper left corner, when I click the time/date field down right? 😀

::I’ll tell you why. It is a “fake”. Icewm doesn’t come with a calendar. People in the antiX community created it so others may enjoy it. They wanted people to have a similar functionality as “real” desktop environments give you. It really only is a window that displays a mini-calendar for you to see and use. It will launch like any other window, controlled by ice Window Manager (iceWM), that sets it at the top left, like most windows in iceWM.
Probably someone could explain how to add a rule to the apps file (or window, or whatever other name it has) on the .icewm folder in home so that this particular window launches in the bottom right corner. If this was fluxbox I would be extremely easy, but I cannot help in this case.
Probably PPC or BobC could figure this out.Just another quirk. Check the forum for info about how to set the geometry and position of windows in iceWM if you want to try to figure this out yourself.

::Hi!
I suggested that anticapitalista used a little tweak that makes the calendar seem much more embebed in the taskbar…
You can try this:
Menu- Control Centre- Edit Icewm… – “preferences” tab.
Add one line at the end:ClockCommand=’yad –calendar –mouse –close-on-unfocus –undecorated –skip-taskbar –button=gtk-ok:1′
(note that before each yad option you have to user two “minus” signs, the the forum software usually mangles that.
Save the file and restart Icewm (Menu – Logout right arrow- Start Icewm)
When you click the clock, a calendar should pop up right above it, as is usual in most OS’s.P.

::PPC, the ClockCommand line didn’t work.
I tried the code you provided, including two minus signs, etc.But no luck. All in all the calendar didn’t show up at all using this code.
Maybe I did something wrong (typo?) but I tried a lot of possible options (minus signs etc.) and nothing worked well. What somehow worked was to fiddle around with the geometry settings for yad.
With the ‘correct’ geometry settings the calendar shows up exactly where I wanted to have it.The problem with yad geometry is, beside the calendar yad is used for a few other settings/windows.
i.e. default applicationsAnd that means these windows also pop up where the calendar window pops up – showing incomplete information and incorrect window size.
Well, I guess I have to deal with the calendar popping up to the upper left corner.
Until someone has an idea what I can do better… ?! 😉 🙂Anyway I think it would be nice to have the calendar included into future Antix linux without recoding the window manager settings. (like in most other OS’s) 😉

::PPC’s command works. The only problem is the forum changing the code. The proper code is:
ClockCommand='yad --calendar --mouse --close-on-unfocus --undecorated --skip-taskbar --button=gtk-ok:1'If this doesn't diplay correctly, all - symbols should be replaced with double -. and pay atention to the apostrophe symbol too.

The problem was the apostrophe symbol. In PPCs code you can see an apostrophe symbol, but I was not aware of the forum changing the code in a way the apostrophe symbol is affected by.
Anyway, thanks for help! @PCC & Xecure! 🙂 🙂 🙂
And even better, this code works with taskbar on top, too!
Nice! 🙂- This reply was modified 2 years, 11 months ago by Fonsis.
