      Netbook Lenovo s-205, AMD E-300/4G/300G, Antix-21 installed on the hard drive. Installed trinity R-14.0.11. Everything works great (32 and 64 bits). There is only one problem – you can turn it off only with the power button, any menu item only closes the session (the same with lightdm).
      Can anyone tell me how to enable Trinity window manager by default?

        as far as autologin is concerned, in q4os they have the following commandline tool available:
        ‘ctrl-autologin’,
        run for help:
        $ sudo ctrl-autologin –help

        For reboot: reboot (or sudo reboot)
        to switch off: sudo shutdown -r now

          Maybe this is something you will like:

          This script works nicely, to reboot & power-off. I “borrowed” it from forum member @manyroads a while back. πŸ˜‰
          (I use it when building up from core, sometimes.)

          #! /bin/bash

          action=$(yad --width 300 --entry --title "System Logout" \
              --image=gnome-shutdown \
              --button="gtk-ok:0" --button="gtk-close:1" \
              --text "Choose action:" \
              --entry-text \
              "Power Off" "Reboot" )
          ret=$?

          [[ $ret -eq 1 ]] && exit 0

          case $action in
              Power*) cmd="sudo /sbin/poweroff" ;;
              Reboot*) cmd="sudo /sbin/reboot" ;;
          esac

          eval exec $cmd

          Save the above script to a file & make it executable.
          I don’t know Trinity DE, but you could call it from the main menu, or make a .desktop file….

          After you shut down gracefully, antiX should keep track of your most-recent desktop session, setting that as default.

          Enjoy.

            Thanks, I’ll try.

            Off topic, sorry. that trinity is left unaddressed. Very light (less than 200 MB of memory), and the converter, as a file manager, is beyond competition, in my opinion.

              From what I have read. One needs TDM login manager installed if the F1 key in slimski don’t pick it up.

              10.3.
              How do I replace the standard text login screen with the TDE login screen?

              https://www.trinitydesktop.org/faq/configure.php#idm140487997800880

              Starting
              Manually
              To start Trinity from the Linux console:

              $ startx /opt/trinity/bin/starttde
              See xinit for more.

              Graphically
              tde-tdebase comes with TDE Display Manager. To start it at boot, enable the tdm.service.

              That is all I have to say as I have no interest in running trinity myself.

                Yes you are right.
                But perhaps I was asking about the impossible. πŸ™‚
                In pre-systemd times, installing TDM was easy. I’ve now looked at the trinity distribution and even the pclinux build uses gdm.

                  I ran Trinity a lil. Punch the super key and x and see if it prompts a logout

                    Did you mean by this:
                    – Trinity desktop (overhead) takes just 200M as compared to IceWM or JWM taking the whole 40M. Or you meant that the initial (after fresh boot) memory usage shows as 200M?
                    – Did you mean by chance the Konkeror file manager, rather than Converter? If so, then what is the superiority over zzz (SpaceFM)? And if someone does not like Konkeror can it be replaced with some other one?

                    Thanks…

                      Hello!
                      First of all, having used Linux since RH 5.0 and KDE from the very beginning, the last thing I want to do is start a debate about which one to choose. πŸ™‚
                      Yes, you’re right, 200mb is the initial memory usage on boot. According to the meme, there is not much difference between 200 or 100 compared to a downloaded Firefox, for example.
                      Another issue is running services. A simple example – on my netbook, as Firefox was updated, videos on FB stopped playing. At the same time, there were no problems on a more powerful machine with the same OS.
                      Now, with OS without systemd, with trinity and version FF 96.01, video without problems.
                      About Konqueror (sorry for the mistake in the post). We get this hint just by hovering over the file.
                      Sincerely

                      P.S. Once again, I apologize for any mistakes, this is not my native language.

                        I personally used Q4OS-TrinityDE for my low end pc(s), for some reasons:
                        – they created some native themes Win-like, that before FT10 made it easy to move from Win to linux,
                        – also if the average footprint of Q4OS was roughly the double, compared to antix, the responsiveness of the pc was surprisingly a bit faster and less cpu hungry. That fact always surprised me. I could perceive it very well while playing on old hw internet bullet chess games (<2′ all the game) where every fraction of second counts and having a system non responsive may cause a loss on time.
                        – I personally don’t like Konqueror, but I should point out that it is very easy (with a native trick) to substitute it with Dolphin, that I prefer. My opinion is that zzzfm is better than both the other two.

                        With debian buster, with Q4OS 4.X series, according to my standards they moved from light to medium distros, so now Q4OS competes with Mx in that other segment

                          Thank you for clarification, extensive explanation and screen shot…
                          If the initial system memory footprint is just 200M using Trinity then it is impressive… Very similar to what I have seen with Fly desktop, but that one only on systemd system.
                          It looks to me this is very interesting project to implement with antiX. Any more info on the process would be appreciated.
                          Thanks and Regards…

                            This is surprising to me that your performance measurements were in favor of Q4OS vs. antiX. Was this on the same machine?
                            When I was playing with Q4OS I did not get this impression, although admittedly I did not benchmark them…

                              Just a subjective opinion.
                              Building antix-trinity would be interesting for access to the debian repositories. There is a build of pclinux online, but it has its own package system.
                              But now Trinity has problems with sound, pulse support is promised in release 14.1.

                              About Q4os, it’s essentially a closed source GUI (with two hidden executables, which is nonsense) for installing non-free debian packages. As a result, it is almost impossible to get support on their site, they are not the developers of the OS and DE itself.

                                One thing to keep in mind is that antiX is systemd free. If I am understanding correctly, both other mentioned here – PClinux and Q4OS are based on systemd…
                                A challenge might be to keep this way…
