::@xecure, I am beginning to wonder if there is possibly a message box waiting for input behind my frozen ICEWM desktop window.
When I got a freeze and waited to see if it cleared (it did not) the fans got loud quickly, high cpu load.
Will play with smaller windows and top open in terminal, maybe I can get some clue as to what happens in the moment
of freeze.Used ice rox for about 5 hours straight yesterday, it is stable.

::32-bit. live-usb.
A problem with cli-aptiX:
I can run sudo apt update in a terminal, and get a successful result.
But then I immediately run cli-aptiX, and it says there is at least one list file missing & offers to re-run apt-get update, continuously.I see this also. I also saw it in the B1-sysVinit version as well. I run sudo apt update before I use cli-aptiX. When the program ask to run apt-get update now, I just press no and continue to the next step. Everything else works fine.

::I tried it today, the only possible upgrade on it was antix-goodies
There is a glimpse of runit/runsvdir running two services only …..
I tried to start X withough slmski being active, and run into rights issues, even after creating Xwraper.conf
but didn’t pursue it too far. Although it started easy as root. At one point I tried jwm too, and at some point clicking the menu froze and made the mouse vanish, the 2nd stayed frozen, no tty access …
I will try messing with it again and record exactly if I can reproduce it. It appears as slimski or death for now.anti-X - Adélie - obarun - systemd Free Space

::@fungalnet – this thread is about sysVinit beta2 version.
Are you testing that version?
If so, those runit files come from upstream Debian ssh and acpid packages (particularly acpid as it depends on runit-helper)Install xserver-xorg-legacy for startx to work without a login manager
Also see this post: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/startx-on-antix-base-and-full/
Running live, I was able to boot to init 3 (just add 3 to the boot menu line and remove the splasht ‘cheat’).
Then I logged in as user, su to root and installed xserver-xorg-legacy (I didn’t need to edit Xwrapper file).
startx gives what we call our min/minimal-wm option.
I then removed slimski, elogind and the desktop still works ok.
Can’t get rid of dbus I’m afraid.- This reply was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by anticapitalista. Reason: Added more info

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::I have been spending a bit of time running antix-b2 x64 (sysvinit) live (except when testing stuff on runit), and remaster, persistence, and most apps in control centre (I haven’t tested them all yet, like cups, bluetooth, yet) work (like repo-manager, update, autoremove, preferred applications, change wallpaper, etc.).
I have yet to try iso-snapshot, and installing things from the package-installer. Hopefully I can test them tomorrow. Mainly the external apps, and ones from MX repos.
Everything else, like changing desktops, editing files, browsing the web, playing music, pulling and pushing from git, etc. seems to be very stable.More testing tomorrow.

I installed antix21b2 on a Pentium 4 machine today. It booted fine but I had to un-blacklist the B44 driver to get the ethernet to work. I installed SeaMonkey and Palemoon from the Package Installer with no problem. Then I ran the Snapshot program and made a snapshot iso. It took about 20 minutes. The I used Live USB Maker to create a Live USB. That took about 5 minutes. Then I rebooted and booted to the newly created Live USB. No problems at all.
I moved the Live USB/Snapshot over to one of my Pentium-III machines and booted it up using Plop. It booted with no issues. Ethernet was up. The wallpaper was the same as I had chosen on the P4 and the SeaMonkey and Palemoon browser were ready to go (although they won’t run on this non-SSE2 machine). But everything works good.
Snapshot worked beautifully on my tests.

Runit bit fully updated running live.
Previously never an issue with tor updates.Quickfix, not an all user solution.

regarding alt+left-click drag to move windows: It works as expected in 64-bit (both kernels). (It only does not work in 32-bit, in my testing.)- This reply was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by christophe.

::Just booted once again on antiX-21-Beta 2, this time with my Thinkpad X201.
I ran the package installer and installed several packages, no problems observed.
I remastered twice – the second time because I added additional changes that I wanted to observe. No problem, though I have to restart to check it out.
Also, I configured persistence, so I want to examine both the persistent live state on one restart, then I want to install the remastered software.I’ve previously installed both runit and sysvinit on both my Thinkpad and my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptops previously; not expecting any installation issues, but I’ll still verify both persistence and remastered installation in a subsequent run.
I also tested the Alternatives; the problems I observed earlier in the testing cycle have been resolved to my satisfaction.

::Now booted into the rebooted instance of the remastered image, which has also retained the settings previously created in the live image rebooted from a Persistent State (root – General).
All is working perfectly.
In terms of the things that I typically use, I’ve tested and used all of them at least once. Any features I’ve not tested are things that I typically do not use, except perhaps on very rare occasions. Big thumbs up to the work accomplished during antiX 21 development. Any further changes will only further solidify the work and rectify any minor remaining issues.

::I’ve also used both kernels and they both work fine on my Dell and Lenovo systems.
Running now on a persistent state started from the 5 series kernel.
Booted this persistent state with the 4 series kernel and it noted that this kernel is not persistent, but it did provide me the persistent state from the apps in the 5 series kernel; that is what I hoped would happen, so I’m happy with this test too.--

::64-bit live-usb.
Opera browser does not install from the package installer (on 64 & 32-bit).
Supertuxkart installs from package installer, but on modern kernel, it freezes my system. mouse moves, but clicks do not register; keyboard shortcuts don’t work.
On legacy kernel, supertuxkart wll get to offline/online account page, then freezes. keyboard shortcut to xkill works, & system recovers.
I don’t know if it’s my system that’s the cause or not; but you asked for any package installer anomalies, so I mention it.

As I had explained in the topic Watching Youtube in very old (even 32bits) pc’s (and in more recent ones too):
“… I did several tests with SMTube on a computer with a Pentium 4 processor and 1GB of DDR RAM. In the tests I did, Celluloid played with better quality than MPV.”
Since then I usually make Celluloid the default player for SMTube and other video files. I hope it is still in time for you to evaluate the possibility of using Celluloid to play the video by clicking on the Personal Menu Help Videos.

Eu havia perdido o momento correto para comentar e sugerir a utilização do Celluloid no lugar do MPV.
Conforme eu havia explicado no tópico Watching Youtube in very old (even 32bits) pc’s (and in more recent ones too):
