::tosim, Xecure is pointing you to the place where anticapitalista said that he is expecting the release of antiX-21 by the end of this month.
I’m hoping to release by the end of this month if all goes to plan.
antiX releases all “flavours” at the same time, so core will be available then as well. If there were to be a change (like no more core edition), he would have told us.
confirmed antiX frugaler, since 2019

::If you are asking about a beta release of antiX-21-core, there won’t be one.

::anticapitalista/christophe-Thanks for your replies. I was asking about release of next version, i.e., will there be a “core” version.
Thanks again for all you both do here. Update:I just read email of Christophe and it is answered.- This reply was modified 1 year, 6 months ago by tosim.

::So I’ve found a workaround to make antix X server to launch on RTX 3 series cards during liveboot. You just need to add modprobe.blacklist=nouveau to the kernel parameters and X will start normally afterwards. Something to note if you decide to install Nvidia proprietary driver you’ll need to remove xorg.conf in the /etc/X11 folder or otherwise X won’t use the drivers.

::(I thought I saw an “antix21 beta feedback thread” but I can not find it again … so I am posting here …)
working good on surface laptop go with surfacelinux kernel (from a .vhd file on my “magical” ventoy usb drive)
(it could not get packages from an “ftp sthing fr” repository … but it was apparently only antixlinux helper packages)(btw the way this fixed issues from previous antix19 like the keyboard was not responding when I was trying to login in my icewm session on my surface laptop go)

Some mirrors are having problems. Would you mind using the repo manager (Control Centre > Software > repo manager) to switch to a different antiX mirro and then again run the antiX updater? Hopefully this is only a problem with the mirror that was assigned to you at boot. Let us know if a different mirror worked for you.

::Sorry, not yet much time to explore antiX-21-b2_x64 more thoroughly. The beta version seems to work very well. I am appreciating both zzzFM and slimski. The latter takes care about security much better than its previous alter ego (ie no root login allowed).
. read-only LiveUSB

. desktop Rox-IceWMSystem: Kernel: 4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 10.2.1 Desktop: IceWM 2.7.0 Distro: antiX-21-b2_x64-full Grup Yorum 6 September 2021 base: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) Machine: Type: Laptop System: ASUSTeK product: X456UVK v: 1.0 serial: <filter> Mobo: ASUSTeK model: X456UVK v: 1.0 serial: <filter> UEFI: American Megatrends v: X456UVK.303 date: 10/05/2016In IceWM the “Unplug” button in the toolbar (left side) is always fully frozen. It just displays its title “Unplug Removable Device” when the mouse pointer hovers over it; except its title, nothing happens.
This takes you to trouble, especially if you use a read-only live and need a couple of usb drives or more to archive your own data. Risk is to lose files at transfer without knowing it, except if you explicitly ‘pumount’ the device previously on the command line.

::Unplugdrive is being reworked to again support non-root users. After exploring and testing for a few more days, an update should appear (soon-ish).

::Same System/Machine as in my previous post. Noticed in 3 antiX releases.
. read-only LiveUSB / User session
. antiX-21-b2_x64-full (bullseye-sysVinit)
. antiX-19.4_x64-full (buster-sysVinit)
. antiX-19.3_x64-full (buster-sysVinit)
. desktop Rox-IceWMDepending on certain events, the IceWM toolbar is not well anchored at the top of the screen after it is dragged up by pressing <Alt> + mouse-left-button.
At first level, given events seem to trigger the same fall. Each time a particular subset of user commands is run for launching/stopping an action, the toolbar suddenly falls down to the bottom of the screen (like in a Tetris effect). It actually happens if and only if an icon corresponding to the action shows up / is removed from the toolbar’s far right side. Can we think of a combination of antiX/ROX rather than IceWM itself? In which configuration files or documentation are those objects/icons described?
Typically, the – non exhaustive – subset of commands/actions is:
– Connman UI Setup on/off or the ‘cmst’ command
– Volume->Quit
– CPU->Separate or CPU->Combine or CPU->Disable
– Date/Time->Disable
– PPPoE commands: pppoeconf, pon, poffNo high priority. Hope it helps.

::@anticapitalista
When a user installs antiX 21 (full), both available kernels will be installed, and no matter what kernel you chose during boot, the newest kernel version (5.10 in this case) will automatically be selected. Can a small dialog warning be added to the installer so that, before starting the installation process, it lets the user know that X kernel will be the default, and if they want to ony use the current selected kernel they need to uninstall the other kernels? (Or maybe an option to remove it from the same GUI)It is a bit of extra work, but I think it is preferable to give a warning to the user when there are multiple kernels installed, that only the newest will be the default after installing.

::@Xecure – probably a good idea to have some sort of popup (though I usually hate them)
either when user clicks on Install on the Desktop(s) or clicks Install via menu(s).
Or as a popup on first live boot (with option to remove message for those running live)Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
