::Try using the 4.9 kernel.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::I had similar issues when I changed to antiX-17 from 16 and then to antiX-19 from 17. Times moves on and video standards on the web are the hardest to deal with as your equipment gets older. I solved my problems on those old pieces of equipment by changing the kernel and using different driver modules. This required some hacking of the settings and config files. I got help from many people here.
One thing that worked best for me on my really old equipment is to NOT use the browser but instead use a stand-alone player like SMTube and mpv, or Streamlight, etc.
On a desktop you can sometimes get good results by upgrading your graphics card. That’s hard to do on a laptop.
Change your settings on the websites to use lower resolution video. 720p instead of 1080p. Or even 480p or 360p. Also remember that most videos are highly compressed and will take a lot of processing power to uncompress and render on your machine. I used KODI for years and would always set the video settings to allow me to “choose” my resolution rather than let the program choose the highest setting. Now on many of my older machines Kodi is no longer suitable. As I said, times moves on and KODI does not care to support old equipment. Same is true of the browsers you are using.
Your machine can also run MX. I would try MX XFCE and Fluxbox and also try changing kernels with MX. At least you will learn what your equipment can respond to. Try plain Chromium also. I have found it to be one of the best options for browsing on limited equipment. Many of the other browsers require much beefier equipment.
I have one machine where I stayed with the previous version of antiX, using the Debian “old stable” system, because the current repos did not support the old version of Kodi. So, you could choose to stay with antiX-19 for awhile if all else fails. It will be supported for quite a bit longer.
Good luck.

::Hi Everyone,
After some more testing, the issue seems to narrowing in the slow-down happening after wake-up from suspend while using the 5.10 kernel. The slow-down seems to have gone away after I switched to the 4.9 kernel….
