You still haven’t told us which packages you are trying to install so we can check if we’re having the same issue.
I installed a package via package installer and it works fine.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Used the package installer dozens of times in last couple of weeks. Had one recent fail, internet dropping for a few minutes.
Otherwise it has always been reliable. My list below.
Palemoon, Vivaldi, Tor, Ungoogled Chromium. Libreoffice US Latest Full, German language pack, Darktable, Gimp. LaTex
Zoom, non free codecs reinstalled twice, Simple Screen Recorder, java 11.Stopped counting last week while investigating, desktop freezing issues on my main machine.
Problem now found and was definitely caused by additional, non antiX curated software. i.e. my problem to investigate and fix…
