::Fixed using boxdraw patch.
Sorry for the noise. I was sort of pulling my hair out. š
That’s a weird one. Glad you figured it out, I would have probably done something useless like throwing a bunch of new fonts at it, hoping the problem would resolve itself.

::@blur13, @andyprough, and @olsztyn have you guys seen this before and found a solution? htop in st and note the squares or boxes.
Sorry, my response is late as you already resolved this issue by applying the boxdraw patch:
I do not experience such issue running Htop in ST terminal. However my ST is pretty much plain vanilla, just as I compiled from the ST source code. I do not have all these enhancements of ST you implemented.
So these blocking characters you posted – are they the result of applying enhancement patches and it requires another (boxdraw) patch to fix this issue?- This reply was modified 3 months, 2 weeks ago by olsztyn.

I posted after having spent an hour or more doing exactly that! Installing fonts. Ugh. š

Actually, htop was fine. I edited the post and corrected it to state iotop. My bad. Need to strike out the wrong info and add and emphasize the correction so it stands out.
I started by disabling all the patches and testing. It didn’t fix the issue. Googled for a long while and I didn’t find anything useful, so I resorted to trial and error. Began batch installing the available patches until it was corrected then backed out patches until I identified the patch that fixed the issue.

::Update.
I am making one more change, swapping out the file manager, then creating a new ISO to install on several machines. If all goes well, I will have a new ISO posted within the next forty-eight hours. I’ll open a new thread once it is uploaded.
I appreciate all of your help and suggestions. As a result, it is a better product. Thank you.

::Vifm
https://vifm.infoI am hoping with Vifm that I am done file manager hopping. I am finding Vifm has a nice balance between good out-of-box experience and ease of customization.

Thanks for the update. Just to confirm on my side, iotop under ST is not producing such blocking characters either. So I am glad you narrowed down the cause of this issue as a patch and subsequently fixed this issue.
I am looking forward to further developments in your DWM enhancements…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

If I understand your statement correctly, I had the opposite experience.
I will make a note to investiagte further at a later date. In this context, I don’t like mysteries.

::Regarding the use of connman and cmst. I have them working, but boy oh boy is connman noisy on tty1. Not sure how to feel about it but it is annoying.

::On boot connman fills the screen with what I would categorize as “info” messages communicating its progress. You lose the login as a result. Hit enter, login prompt appears, and good to go. After login, I am seeing messages of adding and deleting a route to the gateway. It is not constant so it doesn’t impede tty use but it is annoying. tty is getting other messages, e.g. cron, but very infrequently.
My thought is errors should print to tty where informational or even warnings go to a log. I have an opinion, apparently. š
I suppose it is a small thing and I shouldn’t let it annoy me.

::Thats weird, are you running it as a daemon? In that case it shouldn’t print anything to the controlling terminal.

::I installed the connman package with no changes and it has and is using its runit service unit.
I will take a look at antiX 22 runit base and see if its /etc/connman/main.conf was altered from the defaults. It may be useful to look at connman’s behavior on the antiX 22 core sysv, too.
This isn’t a blocker, so I won’t wait on a resolution for the next antix-dwm release.

Yes. Understood.
I meant that I did not experience this issue with Htop in ST, and I did not have this with IOtop under ST either.
But again for me to clarify, I use a plain vanilla ST I compiled from the original source, no patches.
So as it appears to me, in my understanding at least, some patch or a combination of patches seems to cause this issue in your case.
In any case, whatever it was I am looking forward to the enhanced DWM antiX…
