      Quick check on HP-14 – boots with either kernel but networking functions only with Version 6 kernel.
      Package Installer and Web browser work; YouTube video works on the browser;
      will install on another system and test more features.

        About tethering, I suggest adding this to the default conkyrc:

        ${if_up usb0}
        usb0 up: $alignr ${upspeed usb0}
        ${alignr}${upspeedgraph   usb0 30,170 5599cc 5599cc}
        usb0 down: $alignr ${downspeed usb0}
        ${alignr}${downspeedgraph usb0 30,170  5599cc 5599cc}${endif}

        In the section where all the other connection options are checked, eth0, eth1, wlan0, etc.

        That way there is an indication on conky that the phone is providing internet, with the usual graphs.

          Does your phone show up when plugged in?

          Honor 9xPro and Redmi note, as usual show the suite downloader exe window

          antiX Included phone mound script does not work

          This is a long standing problem, a different script does work, number of frustrated users unknown:-)
          I have had the same Issue with Redmi Note from 5 to 11, no access to Note 12 as yet.

            Tested the sound and volumeicon on 3 other hardware devices and could not find any problems. Even on a device where I never could manage to output the sound via the nvidia card and a displayport-hdmi cable to the monitor using only alsa.
            There is sound with pipewire, volumeicon and also the alsa-switch and back show no more problems.
            On my hardware the problems with pipewire have been fixed.

              I was busy developing the “Finder” GUI, this weekend. Probably in a few days I’ll try to improve the android script – I never had problems with it, but then again my phone is about 4 years old, and my tablet is an android 4.1, and they work great… It’s a little hard to find out exactly what is wrong when I can+t replicate the problem… But my alternative script to connect to android device- available here in the forum- seems to work better on those problematic devices, right?

                With pipewire no sound, from controll center setup or speaker test done manually.
                Nothing in mixer muted.

                Switched off pipewire sound worked immediately.

                Sorry Xunxi23, but that gives almost no information. Was there a volume icon? About what mixer are you talking here?

                  Did the same on my older Lenovo X201; ran live using a Version 5 kernel and it worked just like the Version 6 kernel
                  did with the HP-14. Was able to get sound; did not get to any Bluetooth activity on either system, but I was
                  able to install on the X201 and then I tried Versions 5 and 6 plus I installed a Liquorix kernel and the Chromium
                  and LibreWolf browsers, both of which worked fine. I then worked for several hours on normal every day activities,
                  and during the process customize my individual IceWM settings which worked as usual and expected. Other than the couple
                  of package changes I did not notice anything else different from antiX 23 and it worked just like my other antiX instances,
                  which for my use cases I call it a success. Others can fill in with the tools and utilities they typically use; I was
                  able to get two systems working fine today.

                    Live usb test on “gaming” computer with Intel and nvidia graphics.

                    Booted fine.

                    By default Pipewire ON, first boot no volume icon. Second boot, volume icon appears using PAVUCONTROL as mixer. When I disable Pipewire using the menu item in accessories (Why not in multimedia?), the volume icon still brings up (non functioning) PAVUCONTROL. A “normal” Alsamixer screen launches from the multimedia menu — EXCEPT no Pre-amp slider.

                    Shutdown WITHOUT flash of logout manager (after toggling Pipewire OFF).

                    THEN BOOT after toggling Pipewire OFF (shutdown and boot, NOT reboot) and Pipewire is running again.

                    Then I chose “Restart Session” and the system launched without Pipewire. Volumeicon still launches (non functioning) PAVUCONTROL, although “normal” alsamixer is available from the multimedia menu (but without Pre-amp).

                    ** Aha, the toggle doesn’t work with “shutdown and new boot” or “reboot”, just “restart session”.

                    (I thought it did work on 23 after applying fix, but might be wrong. I will follow up and report [or others can correct my misunderstanding]).

                    Sound: usb headphones appear in PAVUCONTROL, but “muting” the built in speakers didn’t shift the sound to my cheap Logitech headset. (This works automagically on my antiX22–>antiX23 install on the same machine.)

                    Would try my Bluetooth, but I don’t know where to change the runit-service-manager. I looked at the add starting services but that didn’t off a checkbox for Bluetooth and I don’t know how to add non listed services.)

                      FYI on runit based distros, the Runit Service Manager is found at
                      Menu –> Applications –> Preferences –> runit service manager

                        The fix was just recently merged to in the gitlab repo. Not in the antiX repo yet, I think. It will probably be arrive in an upcomming update.

                        If your live system was running with persistence on, then I will need to look into this issue. Please make it clear if you were running live with persistence or remastering, so I can try to find the issue.

                        There is a button labeled “Add” under the list of active services. When clicked, it displays a window with different services you can enable. You select one, click the “Add Service” (or something sismilar) button, and it will be added and enabled. Alternatively, using the terminal
                        sudo update-rc.d bluetooth defaults

                          Very strange – since the script that performs the “toggle” edits the startup file, it should always work- like abc-nix said – probably a persistence problem?

                            Older kernel, blinkende cursor top left, even after longer than a long time.
                            Much more attractive, a green screen total crash on present device.

                            Still wins my prize as one of the worst kernels ever.

                            The latest antiX kernel, no fails to date.

                            Startup, still running live, BIOS, EFI Not tested. first screen says press F2 and set language, done for German
                            Next screen that has reverted so start again. Press F2 st language, this time it works if we save with F8
                            which did not show on one boot attempt. Confusing, irritating to users for sure.

                            Sound, after hair tearing and many unpostable words I got sound out of a multiple sound card setup without disabling
                            pipe and plumber. Much more complicated than open controll center, set card and test sound in alsa, enjoy.
                            I am too fed up to write all the steps and messing with settings needed here, my welsh mate would say if that is progress
                            throw it out the window. The computer has several sound output devices (intel, Nvidia, Audigy Card) which had to be disabled
                            for output to analog stereo on the card. Not yet tested SPDIF may be easier.

                            @PPC, your thoughts are appreciated, the alternative phone mount script has worked well for me, both on Xiaomi and Honor devices.

                              This has always been this way, it’s not an antiX 23.1 problem.
                              It’s unfortunate, but, when booting live, we have to press F2 to select language for the kernel menu and then press F2 again to select the system’s language… I pointed this out to anticapitalista, long ago. It seems there’s no way around that…

                                Thanks PPC, I had hoped there was some way to fix the first screen so it would carry over.
                                Still trying to think and report as a never before antiX user.

                                Anyone who thinks I do not appreciate all the work which makes antiX even better and still no 1 distro for me is wrong.
                                I sometimes think the culture I worked with in the aircraft industry is hard for many to take. There being as my boss put

                                  Hi all,

                                  Thanks for responses.

                                  1. Re: runit-service-manager, in a previous beta, there were no additional services listed if you clicked add service, so I didn’t think to search and add. After adding Bluetooth, and then running the Bluetooth manager app, I got the Bluetooth headphones connected, but it hasn’t been detected by PAVUCONTROL. (It is an “old” set of Bluetooth headphones and has always been difficult to get working.) Thanks Brian.

                                  1’. Command line for Bluetooth. Thanks abc-nix. I didn’t try that after Brian’s comment and I remembered to run the Bluetooth manager.

                                  2. Toggle doesn’t carry over. That is an uh-duh thing. The live install DOESN’T have persistence, so that behavior is normal. Thanks abc-nix for pointing that out.

                                  3. Re: volume control not launching Alsamixer. Thanks abc-nix for clarifying that.

                                  Bottom Line: All in all, a respectable point release candidate.
