Running the antiX 6.1 kernel. Get nice videos and sounds. Using pulseaudio for sounds. Google-chrome browser works good with this kernel.

The iso-snapshot still does not work properly.

Initially I thought it was because I was using the 6.1 liquorix kernel.

I see the same problem with the 6.1 antiX kernel.

@all Please remember this is an alpha release so not everything will be working.
Also, this alpha version will not be supported after testing.
          Thanks

Finally had the time to fix what was missing in zzzfm’s config file:

This script should fix the buttons to change between the compact and detailed views (using ctrl+6 and ctrl+7 as key-binds to those views)

            targetfile=~/.config/zzzfm/session
#insert keybindings for detailed and compact views
            echo "panel1_list_detailed-key=54" >> $targetfile
            echo "panel1_list_detailed-keymod=4" >> $targetfile
            echo "panel1_list_compact-key=55" >> $targetfile
            echo "panel1_list_compact-keymod=4" >> $targetfile

#change button entries so they work with those keys, instead of the previous "buggy" scripts
            sed -i "s/cstm_248656b5-line=.*/cstm_248656b5-line=xdotool key Ctrl+6/g" $targetfile
            sed -i "s/cstm_6c5d99cd-line=.*/cstm_6c5d99cd-line=xdotool key Ctrl+7/g" $targetfile

@anticapitalista – you can apply this to your zzzfm config file (make sure to all zzzfm instances, before doing so, or else the change to the config files won’t stick

To anyone else testing the changes to zzzfm – on the terminal run:
            pkill zzzfm

Then you can run the above script to fix those zzzfm buttons. don’t forget to select zzz-icewm desktop from the antiX menu, to re-enable desktop icons.

Edit: in my opinion, with the fixes I propose, zzzfm is almost a “perfect” File Manager. I would just suggest some minor changes (just to group them all on the same post):
            – add (and localize) a “Music” Bookmark
            – include, in antiX 23a1 the script to automatically connect to Samba 2 shared networks- it’s tiny and it installs the needed dependencies only if users click it (i.e.- try to use it)
            – add a Bookmark to the above mentioned script
            – possibly (as a bonus feature)- add (and localize) a “Send to Desktop” contextual menu entry, that can be helpful for clueless users trying to send stuff to the desktop, in the cases where drag and drop fail to work for no obvious reason to them (ex: .desktop files)
            – add a Bookmark to the folder where .desktop files are, to provide fast access to all apps, on system where app-select is slow to start
            – use double click to launch files – in single click mode, I find it almost impossible to select more than one file…

@anticapitalista – If you are interested in any of this suggestions, you can easily implement most of them or you can tell me which ones you want, and later, I can try implementing those changes.
For now I’ll try to earn my living 🙂

            P.

@PPC – Music not appearing in Favo(u)rites was an error on my part.
I tried zzzfmlocalize but it did not fully work. Some entries in Favo(u)rites got blanked.
                  I’ll try again tomorrow.

pipewire got upgraded by Debian sid today so you will have to wait for non-systemd/non-elogind versions to hit the repos.
                    sid is a moving target

Thank you anti for such prompt update (today) of pipewire infrastructure to *elogind*-free. Greatly appreciated… Great for antiX 23. Spearheading advancement to the latest technology ahead of other distros…

I most certainly appreciate all of the work that goes into this project and I appreciate everyone that contributes.
At this point the majority of people realize that this is the very first build and that future updates will have many of the issues corrected.
Even with the few things that don’t completely work, this is an impressive first build, and in addition, several of the issues are actually due to the remaining defects in the Bookworm Debian release, although they are doing a pretty good job too.

I repeat my thanks for this community and for everyone who contributes to it.

                        – Routing to bluetooth speaker works as expected. Tested on SMTube/MPV – Playing Grup Yorum – Helin Bölek – DaÄźlara Gel…

                        System is completely *elogind*-free.
Thanks very much again for details of pipewire infrastructure to @Caprea, @Xecure, @Stevesr0, @anticapitalista, @dolphin_oracle and all others who contributed to this technology advancement for antiX 23…

Re pipewire. Just a couple of observations.

I hear no difference in sound quality compared to alsa.
alsa uses significantly less RAM than pipewire and its components

Is there a reliable and straightforward way to route sound from Alsa to bluetooth?
I am aware of blue-alsa -Alsa-bluetooth (or vice versa) component but reportedly it is not straightforward in use…

Yes, no difference in sound I can hear.Unfortunately bluetooth is a problem with alsa only.
I first tried bluez-alsa-utils.But the way I understand it it is missing runit service files.
Would prefer it but couldn’t get it to work.
Might give it another try with sysvinit because until now starting services is easier to me then.

zzzfm: clicking on a bookmark will open a new tab, even though in the settings for all bookmarks “New tab” is not ticked.
The reason for this seems to be that the bookmarks use the tilde shortcut, instead of the full path to the home folder. Once you replace the tilde with “/home/demo”, the bookmark start to act normally and opens in the same tab.
