::For people commenting that the “Trash Can” was not working, it is now, after updating the system and installing the “trash” related package – I created a text file on my home, deleted it (i.e. I sent it to the Trash Can) and then I restored it successfully- a big win for antiX usability (and by this I mean, for the majority of desktop users that do want a Trash can/Recycle Bin).
@Wallon . sorry, I did not understand your problem- can you be using a computer with UEFI (the boot menu is different on those, more modern machines).

::I use a Windows 10 UEFI PC. I always prepare my Live key in MBR mode so that there is no trace on the PC for a future installation.
All my Linux distributions are prepared like this.
In Belgium, it is impossible to do without Windows. As Windows sometimes deletes during an update the Linux distribution installed in dual boot UEFI, I always do my installations in MBR mode.
Each OS has its own disk. No double entry in the Grub or UEFI partition.
With Rufus, it was just a Warning that appeared on the screen but installation works.March 9, 2023 at 5:23 pm #101586Member

::@Wallon – glad you got it installed.
@all – Please remember this is an alpha build and will not be supported.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::Test it out.
Post any comments (positive and negative)My additional comments on antiX 23 so far, after recent antiX upgrades:
– Modularity after breaking antiX-goodies and other components into installable options is greatly enhanced. Important components are included by default. This is on very positive side in terms of my comment.
– IceWM (for those who it) will be happy with a myriad of optional customization options and tweaks in a consolidated page.
– System-config-printer – Is this supposed to work in antiX 23 alpha at this point or it is still in the works?
I have the three system-config-printer* components at 1.5.16-1.0nosystemd1 level at this point and printer configuration appears to not start. Cups service is up.
Probably I am missing something in antiX 23…For comparison:
– My antiX SID/Bookworm has the same version of system-config-printer* version and has no problem starting printer configuration…
– The latest Debian version appears to be 1.5.18-1. Are there plans to update to nosystemd1 version? In any case, antiX 23 looks very good overall, especially after recent upgrades…
Thanks and Regards…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::I agree with @olsztyn:
While I am well aware that many things still have to be tightened up and then the Bookworm project has to finalize before we can produce our final, top quality work, I am nevertheless very pleased with how solid our first Alpha build is and anticipate many further refinements.
The other day I was able to install a few of the subdivided packages and goodies and I am very happy to see what’s included.
I also like how we have plenty of flexibility; with the way the packages are divided, people who prefer maximum lean behavior are free to omit any or all of them, and those who appreciate them can install most or all of them.
Initially I installed around 2/3 of the recent package announcement and I will probably install all of them at some point during testing to make sure they are getting exposure to testing.
I will probably revert to something a bit lighter after the testing is done and the release is completed.
Anyway I am pleased with the direction and progress we are having and I thank all who have provided suggestions, testing and of course I am grateful for the development team and the other freely available software that we are able to use.

::I have disabled auto-mounting and I have disabled the launching of the file manager for USB.
But zzzfm opens all the time! Impossible to block it. It comes and disturbs the installation or when you modify a partition with GParted.
zzzfm is like a cat on a hot tin roof! (en fr_BE; zzzfm est excité comme une puce!)Dear anticapitalista,
Can you please change Transifex as it still says Spacefm in the screenshot below?Attachments:

71 languages installed!
Who needs 71 packages installed on antiX?
Who can speak 71 languages? Yes, I know, two thousand years ago, the Bible Acts – Chapter 2 – Verse 4 saidAnd they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Are there any Linux distributions that put so many languages?
Well, you understood that it was a joke but seriously, the situation should be improved.March 9, 2023 at 10:32 pm #101618Moderator

::Regarding the zzzFM file manager “popping up”, I believe that is because by default when a device is activated it causes the file manager to open.
I’m guessing that Skidoo made it configurable. If not, that would be a useful option to either invoke the file manager or remain quiet when a device is connected. I think the default to bring it up is reasonable but I also agree it’s worth having the choice either way.
Anyone with access to the zzz code can check it out.

::@Brian, I do the same thing because if you forget and there is an update, it takes a long time…
I am disappointed because the keyboard shortcuts = (Logo key + left arrow) or (Logo key + right arrow) do not work for Fluxbox, nor for Icewm and nor for JWM. I really need these functions to work on my 2 screens for translations in Transifex.

::@caprea, I did that from the beginning because I know a little bit about antiX… But it doesn’t block zzzfm.

::I have successfully installed my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus network printer (Print/Fax/Scan/Copy/Web/Phone). It is duplex for printing, for copying and for scanning. Installation done with HPLIP-GUI. I don’t like to use command lines to install a printer.
I have installed the recommended packages.
I changed the format to a4 manually in the papersize file.
In the antiX menu, I used the “Configure Printer” sub menu (=> to add all the options / paper size for fax, scanner, PDF, default printer…)
I previewed a text file with Geany.
I printed a page. Everything works. -
