::Mesa stack the culprit, maybe, known buggy with nvidia, newer version stuck
in experimental over time. I am sceptical, my box green screened with the
latest kernel months ago. I read of another system doing same.
Since moving to 5.18.0-4-amd64 I never had any instability.Regarding green screen crashing, used bp=b9 db+ and 3.
b9 breakpoint always reached 3 devices both kernels.
The devices here 2 in number have NVidia, but that may be coincidence.
Crash is always around same lines in irqs.
@sasa and steves, would you please see if your systems crash in a similar manner.
Just take off existing boot codes and add those above. From the bash shell to
continue booting enter Ctrl-d to continue booting.I had one succesful boot in dozens of testing trys. An antiX 22 updated to testing stick
with all updates boots older kernel system runs stable. That has same mesa packages as the
beta. Same goes for then system I am using to write this. Please see further attached screen photos. With a non responding system all I can offer.
These are fresh from a few minutes ago.Sorry one attachment too many, please would a mod remove duplicate as I am unable to do so.

::@anticapitalista – I suggest some very tiny cosmetic change to the localization of the menu’s
Since I’m been using antiX with my customized configuration, I did not notice one single thing that does not sound right in app-select’s menu entry in pt-pt: it says “Buscar Aplicação” (I don’t remember if I helped localizing this, but it sound almost like machine translated, like “Fetch application”), the best localization would be “Pesquisar por aplicações“.
The corresponding pt-pt .desktop file entry should be adjusted to say Pesquisar por aplicações (pesquisa rápida por aplicações). If it’s up for localization, please just tell me where should I go to perform the correction!
App-select’s title bar also has the more “incorrect” localization, but I think there’s no need to change it’s localization file for such tiny detail- in fact, just fixing the menu entries would be great, because now app-select is literally the first thing users see, when they access the menu (one of the most common tasks in an OS).If it’s up for localization, please just tell me where should I go to perform the correction!*I think I tested service manager for the first time- it’s a great app, very easy to use, well localized! Just perfect! (I did not mess around with any of it’s settings)
*Suggestion: place Modem Manager in the Network part of Control Center

::Menu Manager
In the Menu Manager, it seems like there are four possible states: “Shown”, “Hidden”, “Not Set”, and “Unknown. Will be set next time it is selected and hidden or shown by Menu Manager”.
I’m not sure why there would be a release with either of the last two states; it seems like everything should be either Shown or Hidden. I only checked a few items, but I noticed that even though Vim.tiny is “Not Set” it is visible in my Applications menu under Programming.
There are some duplicate items, such as Text Editor, Session File Manager, Search IMDb Episode, Archive Manager, and ImageMagick (Q16). If these are duplicated because they appear in different submenus, there is no indication of this in the Show / Hide interface. Also, an oddly specific “Reactivate HP LaserJet 1018/1020 after reloading paper”
It might be clearer instead of having to choose an action at the beginning of the interaction to “Show” or “Hide” menu items, to show the list of items, sorted by submenu, with a checkbox that can be ticked to show or left unchecked to hide, with a possibility to drag and drop to move to a different submenu and changes to be applied when closing the dialog.

You could try this updated driver for rtl8821ce. They said that they have updated it for kernel 6.1.

::@Sasa and @Xunzi_23, to not leave this untried here.Since these boxes all use nvidia cards.Did you try to add the bootparameters
xorg=nouveau nouveau.modeset=1
to the line from the picture above in the boot options ?Might delete the splasht.EDIT: Just found this

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/green-screen-on-kde/62100/3Seems to be kernel related.

::To successfully run pipewire without systemd, I need to run a script before starting X
Why this? I installed pipewire and just start it from the startup file in desktop session. Please explain
what you are going after.A nice addition while using pipewire, there is sound without the need for apulse on the newest firefox, downloaded from mozilla side.

::Especially nice is that it is finally possible to use bluetooth for audio playback without installing the cumbersome pulseaudio.Installing pipewire made this possible now in bookworm.
Could you possibly share what exactly needs to be installed from pipewire bundle or from elsewhere for sound to work with bluetooth?
Also, do you need pavucontrol to control where sound is routed, such as to bluetooth speakers, rather than default speakers?

::think I was able to identify another culprit for increased memory footprint of antiX 23…
Namely very recently (a few days ago) there was an upgrade in SID of ntp from 4.2.8p15+dfsg-1.0antix1 to 4.2.8p15+dfsg-2~1.2.2+dfsg1-1.0nosystemd1.Just to mention, I have not updated this antiX modification in SID and I do not think I see any issue with network time. So it would be interesting what advantage that ‘ugrade’ brings to warrant such significant jump in antiX memory footprint…
Any info would be appreciated…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::Since app-select is an excellent app, but takes, on old devices, quite some time to load, maybe Package Installer can feature alternativez, like a Rofi packaged with a .desktop file that starts a nice GUI to perform app searches, xfce’s app launcher, etc…
When I first started working on FT10, the first versions used rofi scrips to perform app searches and file searches (by name)By the way, we already have your two .desktop files that you created in the archive.org, one for searching applications and the other for searching files.

::All of the stuff I have seen here, whether directly implemented in the next release of antiX or simply copied by individuals or possibly maintained by the community or placed in a public site in addition to the forum, represent good ideas. Not everyone will utilize every idea, but that’s not the point. The point is that we have a vibrant community with a wide variety of interests, and it’s possible with our many scripts, tools, and procedures, as well as the several distribution choices we’ve offered – Full, Base, Core, and Net versions, plus multiple init system alternatives, give choice, while still keeping the overall approach efficient and lean.
I’m very encouraged by everything overall.

::The only concerns are that some systems may get left behind by some upstream changes, but the alternative is clear – we STILL have a couple of distributions left that have multiple years of support left for those who are unable to move to antiX 23, so I’m happy with what we do for everyone.
