I installed antix 23 on HP laptop. Realtek wifi chipset is working bad. I can’t update, I can’t install additional programs. Conky does not show wifi internet connection.
With usb wifi TP-link, Atheros chipset, internet works fine.
Realtek wifi pci adapter causes problem on other linux distributions too, not only in antix. It does not work with the newer kernel.

Doe it work with the fallback 5.10 kernel @sasa_ ?

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

No, with stock 5.10 kernel, it doesn’t recognize the wifi network.
It works great on antix 22.

CONFIG_RTW88_8821CE=m is built into the 6.1 and 5.1 kernels.
This post suggests a missing driver.

thanks @anticapitalista, the driver doesn’t work for me. I stay on antix 22.

Now I’m here with my HP 5000 series s5747c desktop computer, an old 2010 relic that my brother in law used long ago.
I’m actually trying the legacy kernel and it works fine here; I will have to try the V6.1.18 kernel too, since this one works well!

I had very good results yesterday with this system using either kernel.

I believe that the Lenovo X201 laptop also works with either kernel so the 5 series kernel seems to work well on a few systems 10-15 years old.

I also found, fortunately, that the version 6 kernel works with everything I own that runs antiX!

That’s never been an issue in any build of antiX I’ve ever noticed

I had issues with this in antiX 17.4.1 live, the system clock was moved an hour more than once on each next reboot, causing the clock showing 2, 3, 4, 5 hours wrong after some reboots on the switching day. But neither on 19, 21/22 nor on 23 I’ve seen this issue anymore.

Regardless of which distribution I am using, I look for their version of a time server daemon.

If none is provided (rare) I bring one onboard and keep the clock more accurate than most nearby clocks.

Needless to say antiX can manage time with a network time server.

Latest update, partial sound breakage 3 very different devices. Fully updated Beta 1.
Reinstall of mpv makes no difference. mpv config is unchanged pointing to

                          script-opts=ytdl_hook-ytdl_path=/usr/bin/yt-dlp

Full Upgrade EXCEPTING YTDLP sound stays OK.

Downloading from YTDLP site, installing to correct location and given correct permissions
                          also kills sound.

                          From full-upgrade.

I installed to a Core2Duo from 2007 – will boot the 6.1 kernel, but it still suffers from the two-minute blank screen wait, during the kernel loading (and the live usb still loads that same kernel in about 5 seconds total). The 5.10 kernel boots normally on the installed system live.

I may have a similar problem on my old Atom-based Sony Vaio albeit on a 32bit 22. The 6.1 kernel boots much slower than 5.10 (25 seconds vs. 14 seconds to a fully working ICEwm desktop with WI-Fi connected and associated) and the logs point it to the same TSC lines.

Have you tried to boot with “hpet=off” ? I did not but the distro I was using before antiX did have that option set by default and I never had this problem.

I’m not sure if this was reported before: florence virtual keyboard exits when I try to press any virtual key. If running via CLI, it outputs some warning about DBus, and not being able to connect to the accessibility bus and asks if at-spi-bus-launcher is running…

Edit: the much worse looking xvkbd installs and runs fine, but it’s virtual keys are difficult to read. It’s good point it’s that it acts, in english, like a mobile keyboard, making suggestions about what’s being typed…
I’m not recommending it, only saying that there are alternatives out there, that do work without any extra configuration!

                              P.

I didn’t see any comments or reports about the Florence keyboard. I got it to open and I could click on various keys, but it didn’t have any practical function when I tried it, so there may be issues, or in my case, I knew *nothing* about how to operate it.

As you can see, for this package either the hexchat-python3 package or hexchat-python2 package, both in versions starting from 2.14.2.4 will meet the dependency, so it the package can get installed on antiX 17/19 as well as on 21/22/23. Hexchat itself supports python2 on antiX 17/19 versions and python3 on antiX 21/22/23 versions, so this differenciation in the depends line is needed here.

                                  Thank you very much Robin.
