If you don’t use wireless or prefer to use ceni instead of connman, you can remove both connman and dbus from runit services.
On my laptop with a wired ethernet connection I have these runit services running (antiX-19 upgraded to antiX-22):getty-tty1

udevdIf you are using connman, make sure you switch to ceni first before you remove the connman runit service. Otherwise, you have no internet. When you switch to ceni, the connman runit service is automatically removed. All you have to do now is remove the dbus runit service.

Just to mention a minor issue, as it seems:
When booting an alien message appears around login stage:
‘Invalid directive at line 1’.
The same message appears multiple times when rebooting or shutting down.Functionality of antiX 23 appears unaffected so far…

I have 2 installations with antiX 23.
One installation in [fr_BE].
One installation in [en_US].
I start with my [fr_BE] installation
I received 77 packages to update. For me, this is the gamma version of antiX 23!
I did not follow the instructions given on the forum for upgrades.
By default, Debian said “No” for package updates.
I answered “Yes”.
I didn’t lose my main menu in French.

I noticed right away the new typographical apostrophes for some programs. Thanks to this, the command line control centre works. I discover new windows in the terminal.

Well, I haven’t finished analysing all the packages.
1) But I notice that in the main menu, the line “Personal Menu Help Video” is not updated. The translation made 5 years ago was very bad! I put the right translation 13 days ago in Transifex.
2) The “User Manager” program was translated on Monday, April 3, 2023 in Transifex (this is the “antix-user” file). The changelog button in the “User Manager” program shows that the update was done on Sunday 9 April 2023. Not all translations are in French! Why not? I hope it’s not a problem with the variables / code in the English file that was not updated to take the translations. This has happened in the past.Thanks anticapitalista for all your valuable work. I’ll come back later if I have any other remarks for the [fr_BE] installation.

Here is my installation in [en_US] because I also wanted to use an English installation like my friend Brian from the antiX forum. Sorry for anticapitalista, I can’t read Greek.
Please look at my screenshot with the locales.
I had to set some locales with the “User language” program in Belgium because the currency, measurements, paper size… are different. If I don’t do that, I’m also blocked on some sites in Belgium because of a geo protection thingy. I have this problem in Firefox and Google Chrome for the Belgian TVs on the internet for example. Everything was fine but now the apt notifier program has become French. I lost the English program.
antiX 23 makes a mixture between English and French.
I think of an English speaker who comes to work in Belgium, he won’t be able to use Debian in English?

It’s discriminating. Excluding people speaking another language from participation. Disgusting. Really bad thing. But it’s not debian and not antiX the culprit.
Everything will be fine as long he doesn’t try to mix French and English parts of locale, not meant for being mixed. Set it up properly in English, when you want to have English, and you won’t notice any difficulties, wherever on world you run it physically. I rather think of a Belgian who wants to run his PC in English language. If the sites are blocked then already, something is horribly wrong with this blocking strategy observed in your country…
I believe, this is nothing antiX can do something about, you’ll have to complain and protest at your government. As a citizen of Belgium you should be allowed to use a PC in whatever language you like, without being blocked from something.

My currency is €. It’s not $ or £.
My date format is day/month/year. It’s not month/day/year.
My number format is 1.000.000,00. It is not 1,000,000.00.
My format for the time is not AM or PM.

How do I set up Debian properly with the correct English locales.
There is no such thing as [en_BE] language format.

I’m running antiX 23 Beta 1 Live from a USB at the moment in American English and so I’m using the default settings.
When I examined them I see that from a roxterm my LANG environment variable is set to LANG=en_US.UTF-8
You can explicitly set this in .bashrc with a line
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8 or you can set the LANG in any procedure you are running.Is this helpful?

I have checked several programs in my [en_US] installation.
Look at LibreOffice configured itself. I didn’t have to change it. All in English with the local format in fr_BE. It’s really good.For the moment, it would be only apt-notifier which would be in French. Really strange.
I keep my installation in English because it’s my working tool to compare English and French menus. I tried in French to keep some groupings in the submenus that anticapitalista did in English. There are going to be big changes in the French menu layout in antiX 23. But it is closer to the spirit of antiX in English which has a nice layout.
