::Yes, I saw this, too, shortly after writing it, Brian.
So what’s still missing? Network-manager worked installing and uninstalling.March 13, 2023 at 7:25 pm #101963MemberPPC
::So what’s still missing? Network-manager worked installing and uninstalling.
From Network? I think only this:
-Open Drive
-PiAVPN?
-Rclone
-Tor
-WicdFrom the “Language” category, I think I tested everything worth testing, in pt-pt. If it works in one language, I assume it will work in all languages… Only firefox language pack failed to work, but only because firefox (not firefox-esr) failed to install, so it can’t be localized…

In the Network category, at least for me, wicd is not available; checked synaptic and it does not appear in any repository. wicd is not available for antiX 21/22 either, and I just verified this. From what I can recall, wicd has been gone for a couple of years entirely. Whenever we brought in Connman, THAT was when wicd disappeared.

My plans changed, so I am available; I will finish testing this category now.

::@PPC, I did the same here for my language, the german dictionary for hunspell does not grey out, for every other language the hunspell dictionary does, though. Everything else works.
@Brian, PiaVPN and Rclone, make it complete.March 13, 2023 at 8:01 pm #101974Moderator

::Network:
AirVPN
Blueman
Ceni
Droopy
Dropbox
ModemManager
Rclone
Tor
uninstall and install correctly in the Network category. UPDATE: Attempted to actually RUN AirVPN and confirm the issue PPC reported.ExpressVPN
Megasync
PIAVPN
do not install, nor are they marked after attempted installation.
Open Drive causes the Package Installer to spin with a watch “waiting” symbol; had to manually kill packageinstaller twice.
Mullvad VPN also does not install, though it brings up a list of packages to install and then fails.- This reply was modified 1 month, 4 weeks ago by Brian Masinick.

::Here’s a list of which categories still need to be checked:
Language (Probably not necessary to test every package)
Media Converter
Network
Newsreader
Remote Access
Screencast
Server
Themes
Torrent
Utility
Wallpapers
Window ManagersGiven that all the categories are marked off and I just completed Network, the first round of verification, when everyone is done with their categories, is then complete. If everyone is done then we have completed Alpha verification of Package Installer.

::Hi all,
Not sure if this is considered part of anticapitalista’s request. He wanted to make sure that the packages INCLUDED in the package installer were checked to see if they did install properly.
I looked and noticed that Pipewire is not included.
Just want to mention that even after deletion of libelogind0, it DOES work on antix-23 alpha. After installing the required packages, just entering the “standard” lines in the .desktop-session/startup file and restarting the session or logging out enabled me to get it working. (Only peculiarity is that in the browser, if I start music in one Youtube web page and then switch to another page, the music stops. This doesn’t happen in my Sid setup on my old Fujitsu computer – I am listening right now to the Best of Bill Evans as I type this.)
Parenthetically, I would like Pipewire included on the packages installable thru the package installer. If I can help arrange that with my feeble skills, please advise.
Thanks for replies.

::I’m not sure what will be included in the final version of package installer.
I know at least one package that is no longer supported so as far as the “number of packages”, replacement of one with another as far as how many packages are included,”maybe”.
Keep testing and keep asking.

I do not know what will be in the final either (in fact much less so than Brian) but I should mention that Pipewire is listed in the Package Installer under ‘Audio” category both in the antiX 23 Alpha and in antiX 23 SID/Bookworm.
In case it is to be continued in the final version as listed in the Package Installer I just want to mention that it does appear to install just fine through the Package Installer and it is marked there as installed.
It has been extensively tested by @Stevesr0 and to a large degree myself as working, perhaps it should be marked as ‘tested working’ as part of this ‘Package Installer’ check…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):
