For the early birds – get antiX-23 from here:

Note runit versions are in a separate folder.

      Full announcement below.

antiX-23 (Arditi del Popolo) is a new release based on Debian bookworm.

As usual we offer the following completely systemd-free and elogind-free flavours for both 32 and 64 bit architecture. Available iso files for sysVinit or runit.

antiX-full (c1.7GB) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm plus full libreoffice suite. x64 versions come with 2 kernels. Legacy 5.10 and Modern 6.1

antiX-base (c1GB) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm.

antiX-core (c520MB) – no X, but should support most wireless.

antiX-net (c220MB)- no X. Just enough to get you connected (wired) and ready to build.

(NOTE – If using core or net versions, to connect to the Internet, you might need to type as root user dhclient eth0 or eth1 or if using core – type ceni)

The 32 bit version uses a non-pae kernel.

Note: After installation of antiX-23_x64-full editions, the default kernel will be Modern 6.1 even if Legacy 5.10 was booted during the live boot.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

        Thank you!

          Early feedback:
After some initial testing, the final antiX 23 edition is working nicely. Minor bugs I experienced in Beta 3 appear to be gone in final.
          No issues detected so far.
          Thanks again…

              Thank you!

I’ll grab it in the morning!

Thank you anticapitalista and not forgetting all the unknown or unnamed others who helped.
Special thanks to PPC for the very useful tools. Translators making antiX accessible to more
users in the growing international community get a special mention.

Thank you very much. Now Turkish translation works and doesn’t break installation. Only a few minor translation fixes required.

Thank all of the involved in coding|testing|building very much for the good work.

PS: I’ve upgraded my older installations to Bookworm-based antiX some time ago but it is good to have an official ISO; I might consider to reinstall… 🙂

                      such a good news!!!
Many thanks to anticapitalista and the team 🙂

Many, many thanks! Also to everybody who helped. Downloading it now, antiX-runit-full-64bit.Hm, first attempt failed, second try, md5sum does not match.

Couldn’t there have been some sort of warning?!?

Congratulations to Dear Leader and and the village of contributors.

                            Really minor observation:
Not sure if it is by design or something can be done about, namely bash startup scripts (as seen in desktop startup) have not terminated after execution:
                            – startup (one occurrence)
                            – pipewire-start (three occurences)
They can be seen in task manager (lxtask) on running system.
These four tasks hold on to little memory footprint but should they not be terminated after their execution?

                                Whole lot of thanks.
To anticapitalista, dev teams and everyone involved with antiX.

I am so glad to witness the official release of antiX23.

Many thanks for this great release!
I’ve been using it since the beta2 and I never had an issue.

I installed antiX-23-beta2-full-sysvinit (32 bit). Is it better (or cleaner) to reinstall the final release or can I upgrade the system keeping it as it is? What you do suggest, please?

                                  Thank you.
