I installed today Antix19 on one of the few Conroe-E2xxx with 2GB RAM old PC intended to be used for basic IT training in a community center in Brazil.
Did it with a USB drive without any issue, but when rebooting I am stucked to the command prompt, basically as described in this old post:
      https://antixlinux.com/forum-archive/antix-boot-goes-to-command-prompt-no-desktop-t4565.html

I think slim is no more supported but I tried to uncomment default_user and auto_login lines and change user name, without any effect. Tried to start slim and though it is installed, it fails to start. Romved it and resintalled it. did also an apt update && upgrade, but it is still the same.

      What should I do?

As you seem to be making it to the console could you write what shows from the command “inxi -G” as it seem like a graphics problem. If the live system loaded fully an “inxi -G” would help for comparison. It may be easier to run “inxi -G > graphics.txt” and then be able to copy and paste the file contents to the forum when running the live system.

Also if you use the live system to post to the forum, the contents of “cat /hddmount/var/log/Xorg.0.log” and “cat /hddmount/var/log/slim.log” may reveal some clues.

Weirdly it booted correctly yesterday and was fully functional (I could install LibreOffice and other softs) but next restart the issue was back.
The inxi -G” command did identify a graphics issue , stating “No advanced graphics data found on this system” (see 1st screenshot) what the boot also identified with a “vga=791 is obsolete. Use ‘set gfxpayload=1024x768x16,1024×768’ before the ‘linux’ command (approx. translation from 2nd screenshot).
New issue: I cannot anymore load the Antix live system.
From the beginning the old PC is plugged it to my own 1920×1080 second screen (my own computer is a laptop).
Should I reinstall the old PC completely from scratch? Is the screen resolution too large for the PC boot (though it worked yesterday without any change)?

It looks like you are likely having troubles with the incorrect intel driver or modesetting driver being loaded.
I do not recall the correct way to properly set the driver to use. I think you may be able to specify nomodeset on the kernel line in grub. When grub loads press “e” then at the end type “nomodeset”, followed by “f10” to boot.

This may also help as well.
            https://mxlinux.org/wiki/hardware/intel-video-driver/

For live boot, you should be able to choose safe mode for video.

I am running into similar issue as well, I find I need to login the account in the non-graphic mode and sudo reboot to restart and boot into the desktop. Any idea on how to fix this?

Why is it not? Did you install another display manager?
Is this a live or an installed system?
Did you try Dave’s suggestions above?

                  Hi Severin,

                  Perhaps an unhelpful thought…

Can you launch a graphic environment from the login terminal using the startx command?
