          or something

Is “disk-manager” pre-installed in the alpha? (No, it is not)
          …..
          disk-manager is dropped from debian.
It is an unmaintained gtk2 app that I/we may be able to fork, and modify, to extend its useful lifespan.

We (MX) have it forked. The original author was contacted about us taking it over.
          https://github.com/MX-Linux/disk-manager
Though the site does not officially state that it has been taken over the last few updates needed have been done in the fork (ntfs-3g driver changes and fstab write errors IIRC). As it is utilizing glade I have a harder time following the original code to get around glade and its syntax updates. Keep in the back mind the main issues are updating the python2-3 syntax, gtk2->3.

          Main site:
          http://flomertens.free.fr/disk-manager/index.html
          launchpad code:
          https://code.launchpad.net/disk-manager/

          Edit:
After looking at it for a bit, I am at the point of starting fresh and mirroring the end result in a way it does not look new to the end user.
All the other apps need to be tested and refined before this IMO. There are ALOT of changes between the current version and the bullseye version with a ton of bugs I am sure.

For some reason I have lost sound in my browser odysee youtube radio , but all other sound works. Music Movies etc.. It look like a codec problem ?
Also if I try to use codecs downloader from CC error (can not connect to download site)

inxi -Fx -c24 is not working for me also in cli-cc. But drop it into a terminal and it works.

                    hello anticapitalista

                    trial Resizing of window
for <antiX-cli-cc> cannot quite determine a pattern for the system information inxi;.
at minimum window size for this machine information of 130X36 it begins to act differently pressing q and esc or throw in a esc esc, alt esc the print comes. The other printout are more consistent than inxi; selection. ps_mem is narrow but long, the others about 125 width. of report. passing to different view? sometimes print stay in cli scroll history sometimes not.

                    bigger window semi-works, erratic.

It look like a codec problem ?

This is related to a missing variable in the codec-installer that should point to the correct deb-multimedia repo.

check into why codecs installer doesn’t work (probably because deb multi is not pointed at correctly just yet)

If you look at it, you can see the three packages it tries to install

                      libdvdcss2
                      w.*codecs
                      libtxc-dxtn0

Which are also listed in the Help text related to this app.

libdvdcss2. Most commercial DVDs are encrypted with CSS (the Content Scramble System), which attempts to restrict the software that can play a DVD. This is a simple library designed for accessing DVDs without having to bother about decryption. Because of the vague threat of prosecution (which has so far never happened), many distros remain hesitant to provide it by default.
w32codecs. These are Win32 executable packages that are required for the decompression of video formats that have no open source alternative. Because actual code from Windows is included, the legality of the Linux package that surrounds them can be considered questionable for some regions such as the United States.
libtxc-dxtn0 “S3” texture packs, important for many games, particular steam games and games produced by Valve, among other developers. both 32 bit and 64 bit versions will be installed on 64 bit systems.

Manually activate the deb-multimedia repo using the repo-manager (under Debian tab), and run
sudo apt update && sudo apt install libdvdcss2 w64codecs libtxc-dxtn0
and try the websites you mentioned to see if with the codecs this works. After this, use the repo-manager to disable the debian multimedia repo again.

sudo apt update && sudo apt install libdvdcss2 w64codecs libtxc-dxtn0
and try the websites you mentioned to see if with the codecs this works. After this, use the repo-manager to disable the debian multimedia repo again.

Whitout reading every single entry on this thread, here goes my 2 cents:

I just tested the new version live on virtualbox:
-RAM usage seems quite reasonable, I was expect more RAM usage. and it’s fast!
-I liked the more colorful desktop background, not so much the old toolbar color/start menu (I hope we get all the other great backgrounds on the final release)
                            – My antiX “transformation” pack worked great, but it needed a log off in order to get the desktop background image back- nice to know that… I’m used to my fluxbox/tint2 setup!
                            – I loved the new log in screen- way to go, Bob!- the “F1…” part will help a lot of newbies… But I would try to replace with with a more “graphical” way to present the same info… Many users do not understand a single of of English.
                            – I liked the Icewm’s antix Magic theme – quite modern- but the “small” Close icon circle was cut of on the bottom (for those that like the current icewm default theme- it’s still there, it’s “Blue Day…”.
                            – ….and the “breathe yellow” theme with hidden icons was… an unusual surprise- you may be on to something here!
                            – I suggest you remove the dangerous “File Manager as root” icon from the toolbar, and replace it with “antiX updater”, neat the Package installer. Also, you can change the File Manable to a more recognizable icon (similar to the FM as root- a folder)
                            – I already provided, on the thread about ideas for the future, some suggestions about how to better organize the menu: a very important one is correcting the “Refresh menu icon” to work when the user had no sudo password in “system memory”, and has no way to enter it. Also, put that icon inside the “Applications” sub-menu – where it really belongs, saving space in the crowded first layer of the menu…
                            – Just for kicks, I tried installing and running the “compton” compositor. Running it without any flags got me this;:
“Restack_win….[gibering]… Failed to found new above window.”
                            – I like the new exit menu layout- but why does each button have a number? I though it would respond the pressing a number- it does not.
                            – Clicking in the Alsamixer closes it’s window?
                            – …About Adjust mixer and alsamixer- why not disable the terminal menu of those windows by default, and renaming each window, making it look more like just an (ugly) application, not a terminal window?
                            – In CC, the Drivers tab seems a bit barren… and yes- I noticed the lack of keyboard settings…- I hope you guys are on the way to solve than one…
-I was surprised by the new Toolbar Icon Manager vertical layout- it started almost instantly (why is it faster than in antiX 19.3 on bare metal?), but the layout is quite random- it would make more sense this way “Add, remove, move, undo, advanced, help”
-On Icewm toolbar- I did not see any indication in the Interface eth0 square

                            It’s looking great!

                            P.

If you hold alt and press the number it should work that way.
However when using IceWM, IceWM grabs the key focus away from the app. So it does not always work as intended in IceWM.

IceWM grabs the key focus away from the app

hoping to help, trying to understand…

Is this possibly due to conflict with the preconfigured keybinds present in ~/.icewm/keys ?
                                -=-
Can the app set (send) an EWMH hint, one recognized/honored by icewm, advising “don’t grab muh keys!” ?

Can an icewm rule be added within ~/.icewm/winoptions to prevent keygrab for a given window class?

I found “fullkeys : provided no more keys.” (sic)
but found no further explanation/documentation via “man icewm” nor “man icewm-keys” and searching github was fruitless

I never looked as to why the mnemonic keys fail to function in icewm (Use fluxbox myself).
                                  Looking at what you suggest
I added the set_keep_above(True), grab_focus(), and set_focus() but it did not make a change.
Looked into the ~/.icewm/keys file but did not find anything.
The “don’t grab muh keys” did not seem to work either
I could grab all keyboard inputs, but then I have to filter every keypress in some sort of a function. Good for a keylogger I suppose, not as useful in this application.

Then I noticed (as I pressed the keys without desktop-session-exit.py open) that the mnemonic keys are also the same as the workspace switching keys in ~/.icewm/preferences. Disabling the “KeySysWorkspace[1-9]=*” options allowed the mnemonic keys to work. I had set them with numbers to allow keyboard usage regardless of translation (and conveniently set via a loop). If the workspace switching keys are changed to a different key combination by default, no problem. However if they stay the same for the mnemonic keys to work I am not certain what to use for a “highlighted” item that escapes translation. (Alt must remain the modifier AFAIK, at the least this is what is expected).

Edit: Not sure about using the winoptions file to set a special condition for desktop-session-exit.py.
