::I can confirm that the updated repo-manager version: 0.2.4.5 still gets that error
netselect-apt could not detect fastest repo
in the Debian tab.
As an aside, thank you @Xecure, for teaching me how to build a package from its source. I appreciate your help and teaching.

::“Get fastest mirror” for Debian repo doesn’t work for antiX 19.4 either (with repo-manager version 0.2.4.2), so the error was introduced before this version.
I will explore the git project to see where the change came from.@calciumsodium My pleasure.

::hello Xecure hello Wallon
[installer icon ] “ONLY when selecting Space-(window manager) desktop. It is present in Rox-(window-manager). Wasn’t this the same in previous antiX 19.X live systems? (I am asking because I don’t remember and cannot test it out right now).
You can also find the installer in the menu in ALL different desktop sessions.” ,Xecure
Yes. Previous always.

::Lets forget about the repo-manager. It seems the issue is related to netselect-apt not being able to retrieve the debian mirror list.
Bug also reported in MX forums.Also, netselect-apt doesn’t seem to accept “buster” or “bullseye” as debian releases, and only “stretch” and general names like “stable” “testing”, etc. (at least when I test it out in the terminal), so the second fix proposed by skidoo may not work even when everything is “back to normal” with the debian mirror list.

Yes. Previous always.
Then a new change in desktop-defaults-spacefm-antix may be to blame.

I went back to antix 19.1 iso (with repo-manager version: 0.2.1).
The error
netselect-apt could not detect fastest repo
is also there.
This bug may have been present even before this version.

::I wanted to give an update on my tests of b1-sysvinit and b1-runit.
I wanted to explore if they would boot up on various 64-bit systems and how the installed systems would perform.
I also wanted to see if they would boot up on older systems as well.They following are the systems that I tested:
Dell Inspiron 530 core 2 (manufactured in 2007, 14 years old)
HP 6730b core 2 (manufactured in 2008, 13 years old)
HP 6550b core i3 (manufactured in 2010, 11 years old)
MI5-G41SGMD3 (manufactured in 2010, 11 years old)
Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5135 (manufactured in 2011, 10 years old)
HP Probook 650 G1 (manufactured in 2014, 7 years old)The results:
All systems above booted up in normal boot (quiet splasht disable=lxF) for b1-sysvinit with 5.10.27 kernel in live USB.
All systems above booted up in normal boot (quiet splasht disable=lxF) for b1-runit with 5.10.27 kernel in live USB,
except HP 6730b core 2. I think this is an anomaly, considering that all the other systems booted up with b1-runit.I think this is very good news, because b1-sysvinit and b1-runit seems to boot up and run on even older 64-bit systems.
Some details specific to each of the test systems:
1. I installed b1-runit with the 5.10.27 kernel to the hard drive of the HP 6550b core i3. After install, when I launched iotop, I noticed several runsv log services running. I think 5-6 runsv services. These runsv log services were documented in the posts of the previous a2-runit testing. So I used @Xecure’s runit-service-manager to disabel them. Interestingly, iotop did not detect any runsv log services running in the live USB prior to me installing on the hard drive.
I think users will have to use iotop to check their installed systems to see if there are any runsv services running.2. I installed b1-sysvinit with the 5.10.27 kernel to the hard drive of the HP6730b core 2. The only concern I have on this install was that sometimes connman does not automatically connect to my save network.
I have the same issue with the b1-runit installed system in the HP 6550b.3. I installed b1-sysvinit with the 5.10.27 kernel to the hard drive of the Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5135. In this installed system, the mouse lagged considerably. I tried to increase the mouse acceleration options in the control center. But the results were not optimal. So I switched to the 4.9.0-264 kernel and the installed system works great with this legacy kernel.
4. I had acquired an old MI5-G41SGMD3 motherboard and put together my own computer from various parts from dead computers. I was able to install b1-sysvinit with the 5.10.27 kernel to the hard drive. I have using this computer the most because it is my “own” computer. It works great! Initially, I could not get the sound to work. I was using the headphone jack as my source of sound. I tried varying the options in alsamixer without success. I then installed pulseaudio and pavucontrol. Pavucontrol has an option to adjust the headphone jack settings. The initial settings for the headphone jack was set very low. I increased that setting in pavucontrol and it is good to go.
5. I installed b1-sysvinit with the 5.10.27 kernel to the hard drive of the HP probook 650 G1. After install, I noticed that the volumeicon was not present. I then switched to the 4.9.0-264 kernel and the volumeicon was present on that system. I then switched back to the 5.10.27 kernel and wanted to troubleshoot the volumeicon issue. I found that if I launch pulseaudio first, then launch volumeicon, then the volumeicon would be present. In the startup menu, volumeicon was launched before pulseaudio (if one installs and enables pulseaudio). So I switched that order and the installed system is good to go with respect to the volumeicon.
So, all in all, every system has their own idiosyncrosies.
But in general, b1-sysvinit and b1-runit works very well in these tests. It was fun testing all these combinations.

::^—- good writeup, and thanks for the tip about launching volumeicon _after_ pulseaudio !

::Fantastic job, @calciumsodium. Trying the release in all those machines for sure took a very long time.
About the repo-manager “fastest Debian mirror”, the error doesn’t seem to be related to the repo manager, but to the netselect-apt program. It failed even when launched in terminal. I think a recent update of the debian page https://www.debian.org/mirror/mirrors_full is to blame.
Choosing a main Debian mirror using netselect. netselect-apt was unable to obtain a list of valid hosts from the file downloaded from the url 'http://www.debian.org/mirror/mirrors_full'. This might happen because of any of the following reasons: - there was an error in the file - the file is not in the format netselect-apt expected - there is a bug in netselect-aptSee bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=989674

::Hi
@calsiumsodium
Add this one to your list of ” oldies ” :
Installed b1-runit with 5.10 kernel to
Compaq Presario V3700, made in 2007.
Install. update, wifi, all without a glitch.
Volume control OK ( o.o.b )
Downloaded from youtube Besame Mucho , played without problems.I am testing b1-runit on other hardware too. Same as above, no problems, except I can’t get QMplay2 from the repos. Using AppImage for now
Greetings

::Beyond the suggestion to omit gdebi from the release, I’ll recommend the following

::Found a bug for package runit-antix (while trying to create various runit services).
The file /lib/runit/finish-default has a typo
line 4 sais
. /etc/default/runit
when it should say
. /etc/default/runit-antix
Nothing breaks (as it is only used as a source for variables) but still correcting the path can help for setting future default options.Tomorrow I will write a separate question in the runit for antix bullseye thread related to how the mixture runit+init.d works there.

::b1-runit
VMPK not working.
When clicking om VMPK in the menu, the program shows for 1/2 second, then disappears.
Both on desktop and laptop.
Does work in antiX-19.4Also, QMplay2 does not install
Thanks for reading

::>>>> VMPK not working
confirmed. My suggestion: grab the deb-src buster package (it’s the older, working version) and compile that on your bullseye system. If you need instruction how to do so, start a fresh topic.
>>>> QMplay2 does not install
not in debian. I checked on antiX 19
$ apt show qmplay2 [..] APT-Sources: http://la.mxrepo.com/antix/buster buster/main amd64 Packagesso, you will need to build from MX Linux source package or await the MX packagers to prep a package for bullseye.

::Bug Report – all sources list get mangled after update on Live USB with persistence when selecting a timezone before boot.
ISO: antiX bullseye-beta1 (runit)
System: Live USB with persistence – UEFISelected Boot parameters (from live grub menus):
Timezone: Europe/Berlin
Kernel:4.9
Persistence: persist_root
Save: grubsaveIssue: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* files’ content get mangled (it tries to add the same antix mirror to almost all lines)
How to reproduce: Set the previous boot options described above and boot the system. Update all packages and, when asked, replace antix.list and debian.list. Save live changes and reboot. On next boot all sources will get mangled (and on each new reboot they get mangled even more).
Example of “mangled” source file:
