Been messing with the ATV1 box and most people just use OSMC (www.osmc.tv) (Debian based distro for running Kodi) and remove the Kodi and add LightDM. It works but not great.
AntiX looks much more appealing on both Ram usage and how it even looks. But can’t work out how I might install it as the ATV needs to boot using Apple process (and a dedicated Apple partition for its EFI files) and then run Linux via Kexec. The OSMC installer I can see works by creating a USB installer, adding a TAR file, which is Gzipped also, into a copy of the ATV boot partition and then somehow unTars itself onto the HDD and expands the HDD but I cannot see a command line that could be re-written/re-purposed to call an AntiX installer.
So, wondering if anyone can help with some ideas. AntiX would be ideal for old ATV boxes. It’s easy to DL OSMC installer and their image and see how they get it laid out.

::Hi methanoid,
you might try what I have done to Raspi, I put on ICEWM, others will for sure suggest
fluxbox which is also just as good and very configurable. Case of preference not performance
or stability.
The PI, a 3b has become way more usable with the lighter desktop..
It is also in the bitch category regarding big changes to the the base system.At my –5 expertise level anyway.

::Yeah but doing that isnt pretty as it boots up with OSMC logos and stuff and there’s loads of OSMC related stuff left behind… Oh well

::Looking over at OSMC site quote below sounds very promising.
OSMC can be fully managed and configured via a graphical interface, we have preserved access to the unfettered level of
configuration that a full Linux system promises, giving you complete access and control over your device.Maybe you could have a look around in the wiki, you have root access and apt for changing things.
You would not have exactly antix but should be able to get it slender fast and light.All the boxes I see here run android, so if yours is same you are nearer to the android debian running on pi than antix.
There is no ARM version of antiX. That would be a very big job.
