With https://www.antixforum.com/ open in chromium browser htop shows 106% cpu. Am I reading this correctly?
Closing that tab drops the cpu% to ~6%

With multiple processors, graphical images and scripts providing both front end and back end capabilities it’s not surprising that resources occasionally spike. If they remain high and refuse to respond or allow you to navigate elsewhere that represents a problem somewhere, though not necessarily from something on the antiX forum (though that might be a rare source of a problem too).
Chances are things are working as expected.

Hi schproodle,
unfortunately your Atom N280 is not a very powerful processor and you are short on ram.
The forum is Java intensive which is probably why you have such high CPU load.
If you are able to upgrade:
The device you have will take 2GB Ram DDR2-6400, it has one slot only.
If you still have HDD you can also squeeze out more performance by installing an ssd.
If I remember rightly the ssd was the biggest improvement.
