      Unfortunately I have not checked this thread for quite some and I am happy to see all the replies.
      Personally, installing linux on usb flash drives was an earlier precaution to leave internal HD untouched by my OS experiments. I preferred to have a straightforward fully installed system. I have to admit that distros like ubuntu were lacking performance installed on usb sticks.
      Antix is stellar in this setup. It is so lean and fast that the overall experience is sufficient for a common office, web browsing pc. Even system wide upgrades with synaptic take reasonable time to complete. I think that Antix goes back to what linux was. Necessary services, light desktop, kind on resources and fully operational. Initial memory footprint with desktop loaded around 200 MBs (!), even Lubuntu has double this size. I once more thank the dev team for their wonderful work.
