      Dear Users,

In the “Control Centre”, I can’t find anything to manage my inverter which is connected to a USB port on my PC.
For example, I would like to tell antiX, if the battery of the inverter is at 15%, to close antiX.
My inverter is an Eaton Ellipse Pro 650.
Is there an antiX package to add / install?
When I search the forum with the word “inverter”, I can’t find anything.
It would also be nice to have a small icon in the systray to get notifications.

      Best regards,
      Wallon

I found a tutorial with the “nut” package.
Problem, you have to use CTL commands. I think it depends on SystemD.

Well, in the first place: what IS an inverter? What kind of parcel data for UPS does it invert when it is plugged to the USB port?

          update:
Meanwhile found out by looking up the specific product you mentioned you don’t refer to UPS (united parcel service) but to what we call USV. Please, don’t use acronyms 🙂

I think it depends on SystemD.

You’ll have to check it out whether it does or not by installing on e.g. a live system.
I’ve checked the package “nut”, which is simply a metapackage for nut-client and nut-server packages, installing them both in one go.
None of these packages explicitly shows systemd or elogind as a dependency. Instead the client draws in the init-system-helpers package, which is present on antiX in a nosystemd version. So you might get away without installing systemd for using these nuts.

It is a device that filters electricity permanently to protect servers or desktop computers. To avoid current variations due to photovoltaic panels, electrical pulses sent for bi-hourly meters (day/night) for example. So the computer is protected to update the bios for example.
There is also a lead-acid battery like in cars. This weighs a lot!
If there is a general power cut, an alarm starts ringing. There is a 30 minute reserve.
There is a USB cable to control the computer. If the computer is not shut down for a certain time (e.g. 20 minutes), the inverter will shut down the computer itself by taking control via the USB cable.
This works very well under windows.

I also have a second problem with the UFW firewall. The firewall blocks the communication between antiX and the Eaton box. I could not find any documentation to configure the UFW firewall. On a USB output, there is no IP address and I can’t find how to install a rule in the UFW firewall. I saw this in my dmesg log.

Isn’t this a systemd “sudo upsdrvctl start” command?
