      Hi.
I installed antiX Linux 21 64 bits and I’m not getting 1024×768 resolution with SiS Chipset 661/741/760.

Yes, use the search feature on the forum. There have been several threads on this issue. @Marcelocripe and @Xecure came up with some good workarounds in some previous versions of antiX.

        Seaken64

Also, the Vesa driver should support 1024×768. Maybe play around with xrandr modes or an xorg.conf file.

Seaken64, I have already installed Xecure ISO (pseudo-antix-19 legacy bet3 (64 bits)) and actually achieve resolution 1024×768.
I installed antiX 21 to be able to use the new version improvements.

Xecure can be able to make an Iso based on antiX 21 for Chipsets SiS and Via?

antiX-21 does not support SiS Chipset 661/741/760. Sorry.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Hello Anticapitalista, is a pen can not support Chipsets SIS and Via.
Congratulations on the antiX 21 launch, it is working very well with AMD Sempron 3000 processor and 2 Gb memory.

                Hi @ydek,

if antiX-21 does not support SiS Chipset, then I (*wildly*) guess you could start with the pseudo-antiX-19 bet3.
                1) Install it.
                2) Then disable upgrade of some packages.
Not quite sure which ones, it is possible it was already done when creating the ISO you have mentioned.
I expect that such modifications would be stored in the folder ‘/etc/apt/’, probably ‘/etc/apt/preferences.d/’.

You may try to politely private-message author of the ISO and ask whether this step is a feasible and a reasonable thing to do.
                3) Modify repositories to antiX-21 and attempt to upgrade your system with these restrictions.
It either works or it does not.

                Comment:
C.1) The assumption in item no. 2), fixing version of some packages saves the day, may not be valid.
Perhaps @anticapitalista or someone else has much more insight to know it and they can save you time attempting my above suggestion.
I have now idea if the not-supporting is due to kernel or some other packages, e.g. Xorg.

C.2) Even if it works, I am afraid that such a system will most likely break or phase out of upgrades in the future due to failed dependencies.
(The packages held back become too old and fail to provide an acceptable dependency for packages that require them [in newer versions], thus blocking these packages as well at certain versions.)

Hi Sybot. Thanks for the suggestions.
I had already installed Iso Xecure pseudo-antix-19 legacy bet3 (64 bits).
When I installed Pseudo-antiX I made all updates, and can have resolution 1024×768.

My hope is that Xecure can make an Iso based on antiX 21.

I know that you have installed pseudo-antiX-19 already.
The step 3) of my previous post had *upgrade* in mind, i.e. changing repositories, essentially change ‘stable’ or ‘buster’ (currently Debian old-stable) to ‘bullseye’ (currently Debian stable) in all files in ‘/etc/apt/sources.list.d/’ and then run ‘sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade’.
Explore the proposed solution (packages to update/upgrade/remove/install) and if reasonable, proceed with the update.

A post by @marcelocripe contains output of the ‘inxi -Fxz’ command and it confirms that the repositories point to ‘buster’, see

I’m still curious as to why the Vesa driver does not get to 1024×768. As far as I know the Vesa driver supports that. Maybe you can try to generate a Modeline and add it to your Startup files or to an xorg.conf file.

                        hi ydek,

Which version of antiX-21 are you running on original post?
My sis 760 motherboard is a 32-bit though and freezes on the antiX-21 sysv init live iso at
                        populating /dev

It does run antiX-21-runit live iso at 1280×1024 resolution just fine on the vesa driver.
I deleted everything off of the boot line and hit enter.
I also had to use arandr to set the screen size.
The vesa driver actually goes up to 1600×1200 but my monitor don’t.
attached a screenshot of the hardware.

                        Also did you try pressing
                        control alt +
                        and
                        control alt -
to zoom the screen size under Xorg?

I hope these ideas can help you get your sis 760 to a larger screen size.

Hi Linuxdaddy, thanks for the tips, with the image you sent, you were happy that i also managed to get resolution 1024×768.
I installed the version on the computer, version antiX Base 21 64 bits.
                            My motherboard is PCChips A33G.

It does run antiX-21-runit live iso at 1280×1024 resolution just fine on the vesa driver.
I deleted everything off of the boot line and hit enter.

I will test this tip by live mode with Iso antiX 21 Runit.

I’m using the full antiX iso and got the sysvinit live to stop freezing up.
I took out the pci sound card I had in it. Here is a shot of fluxbox-rox live on it.
On icewm-rox and jwm-rox, there is a slight lag in resizing windows, but quite usable.

today, I’m going to install on hard drive and see on it.

If you get screen artifacts add this to the kernel boot line it helps a lot.
