As always, Mr Masinick, thanks for your words of wisdom.
I want only to adress this point:I don’t have to pretend it looks like Windows, it never is, nor does it deliberately attempt to look that way.
My efforts are not to “pretend antiX is windows”- I began developing this project over a year ago- I use the toolbar that long because I like it- it displays window previews (that I use a lot) and CPU and RAM usage in human redable format (I added that because I never got used to the IceWM system tray icons).
Some months ago I began trying out a menu that allowed easy and fast search- jgmenu does just that. since I don’t like the overcrowded default antiX menu, I created a menu with categories, but I had, for a while, to work with Windows 10 and I got used to the alphabetical application list- so I added that. I tried out “Tiles” just as a joke, to mess with Marcelo, but I ended up thinking something very similar to Tiles – to allow access to the system default apps and most used apps, would be a nice addition, since many users, mainly in Brazil hardly know how to read, so having almost every single feature they could need right there in the toolbar and menu makes their computer life more enjoyable…
I do like the alphabetical app list as my default menu- but FT10 allows that list with or without my “Pseudo Tiles”, and also allows for a regular Debian menu with categories, also fully searchable.
Almost every single feature of the toolbar and menu can be managed from easy GUI’s – something that antiX lacks- anyone can toogle the dark mode off, or switch the menu layout, or the size and position of the toolbar, etc- straight from very simple menus that do not have the contraintuivess (is that a real word?) of IceWM (example: to change the stuff from the icewm menu GUI: search the huge menu for the correct option (hard for me even after some years) select the intended option, then save, then refresh icewm, then, sometimes (like the clock format)- it resets back to the default after logging off…
Computing should really be easy- most people should not need to read a forum just to know how to change a clock setting! Life is complicated enough as it is, right?PS: I also added tiny (and I mean tiny) scripts that allow great features like – local weather preview, local news without the need for a web browser or the terminal, an alarm, timers, a stopwatch- all that probably in less than 100kb – my reasoning is: if the phone in my pocket can do this, would can’t I do the same with my computer?

@PPC: my comments are not aimed at your work, another participant was mentioning (perhaps in jest, perhaps seriously, it’s hard to know for sure sometimes) that some people were complaining about software that looked unfamiliar, but if it “looked” like Windows, they could be “fooled” and the individual was able to enjoy their distribution.
Like I said, different people have different interests, and some people are “hostile” about using things that are “anti” anything other than the status quo. Clearly that is not the opinion of most people here, and certainly not those who have been collaborating with you on this excellent work.
I applaud everyone here for the great ideas and the patience and cooperation it has taken to pursue this creative solution.

Unfortuanly, most probably never – but I’ll ask anticapitalista to include both needed packages (jgmenu and ft10)
Remember that this Transformation Pack is not official- I made it on my own, as an alternative to antiX default toolbar and menu…
It makes sense, however, that it can be, sooner or later included in Package Installer- since it’s costume made to antiX and uses far less resources than the Desktop Environments listed there…PS: Version 1.1.beta1 is out, with update Alarm and Timer apps (available when you right click the Clock)

I believe a good idea would be to clone-mirror your project to the antix-community repo at gitlab in a first step.
The second step would be to put the translations to transifex. Again, the correct place I feel would be antix-community-contributions at transifex, since this space is meant exactly for projects created and driven by people of community like yours.I would have looked into it before, but unfortunately the upgrade from antiX 19 to antiX 21 makes me struggle much more and takes much more spare time than I have. Particularly the firefox update from 78-esr to 91-esr cut me off from web site access on antiX 21 only one day before christmas. (This was fine on 21 originally from ISO, so I was able to research and fix broken things from within antiX 21 until then) So from that day on I had to pause the work on transifex, since now I constantly have to reboot alternately to antiX 19 and antiX 21, which makes researching quite time consuming. So it doesn’t make sense to let the translation script run on the desktop files right now, since it needs some days of running undisturbed in the background. Will resume on this as soon as possible.
And as soon as I will have settled these upgrading quirks once on the machines I’m running, I’ll be back and can help with FT10 translations as best I can, together with all the others. It doesn’t count for me, whether I personally use it or not, there are many people out there who will use it. which is enough to encourage me to help. And it looks great. Good work, PPC!
Also I noticed that neither my aCSTV nor my automatic IRC hexchat translation script work on antiX 21 anymore, due to version incompatibility to upgraded versions of some helper programs. This also will take much time to fix, and also this will have to wait until I am back to normal state of working after the migration from antiX 19 to antiX 21.
So I hope Xecure will step in here and upload this FT10 resource to transifex. Marcelo does know quite well meanwhile how to prepare a bash script for transifex. So he could start to prepare it so Xecure needs to upload it merely. Also Xecure is the one who knows how to build an .deb package from the repo contents, so it can get installed by normal user by any package installer. I have never done this packaging myself, probably will learn some day.
Once there is an installable .deb package, it probably can easily get added to the lists of programs presented for installation by antiX graphical package installer, so new users will see it.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

All the scripts that I sent to the PPC prepared to receive translations have at least the .pot file, .po in pt-BR and the .mo in pt-BR. Not all texts in pt-BR were implemented in FT10, unfortunately… Some scripts I didn’t adapt and that’s why I don’t know if the .pot files exist.In addition to the .pot, .po files, we need to send the .desktop files to Transifex to benefit from the greatest possible amount of translations made by native humans or if it is in the interest of the PPC, we can use their “magical” translation script automatically and sending the translated file to Transifex.
Some suggestions on procedures and organization I have presented in this topic Suggested Review of .desktop File Translations.
Maybe it’s a good idea to create another file similar to antix-desktop-files, but this new one will only contain the texts of the .desktop files that are not “official” from antiX 21. It would be a file to receive all the texts of the .desktop files which are in GitLab and which are not the programs which are in the antiX 21 full ISO. Or if it is better for future administration to include all the texts of all the .desktop files (official or not) in a single file, then this will be the best option.
Upgrading from antiX 19 to antiX 21 also caused me a lot of problems that I still haven’t had time to try to research and solve (or ask for help on the forum), for example, the sound not working and the terrible loss of automatic translations in HexChat and Thunderbird email.

That’s what really matters, Robin, even if it doesn’t work for you, it can work for other people and your help is very necessary and important.

In addition to these terrible losses, there are other programs that were standard in antiX that were discontinued, the application submenus became smaller with the loss of some programs and as anticapitalsita had written in another topic, several programs would have to be ported to the new technology, I think it was something about GTK3.

It’s not like that…, I’m learning from you. If I can’t do something, I ask for your help, however HexChat is critical for fast and instant communication.
I have never done this packaging myself, probably will learn some day.

Todos os scripts que eu enviei para o PPC preparados para receberem traduções possuem no mínimo o arquivo .pot, .po em pt-BR e o .mo em pt-BR. Nem todos os textos em pt-BR foram impementados no FT10, infelizmente… Alguns scripts eu não adaptei e por isso eu não sei se existem os arquivos .pot.Além dos arquivos .pot, .po, precisamos enviar para o Transifex os arquivos .desktop para serem beneficiados com a maior quantidade possível de traduções feitas por humanos nativos ou se for do interesse do PPC, poderemos utilizar o seu script “mágico” de tradução automática e envio do arquivo traduzido para o Transifex.
Algumas sugestões sobre procedimentos e organização eu apresentei neste tópico Suggested Review of .desktop File Translations.
Talvez seja uma boa ideia criar um outro arquivo semelhante ao antix-desktop-files, mas neste novo conterá apenas os textos dos arquivos .desktop que não são “oficiais” do antiX 21. Seria um arquivo para receber todos os textos dos arquivos .desktop que estão no GitLab e que não são os programas que estão na ISO full do antiX 21. Ou se é melhor para a administração futura incluir todos os textos de todos dos arquivos .desktop (oficiais ou não) em um único arquivo, então esta será a melhor opção.

É isso que realmente importa, Robin, mesmo se não servir para você, poderá servir para as outras pessoas e a sua ajuda é sim muito necessária e importante.

Além destas terríveis perdas, existem outros programas que eram padrão no antiX que foram descontinuados, os submenus aplicativos ficaram menores com a perda de alguns programas e como o anticapitalsita havia escrito em um outro tópico, vários programas teriam que ser portados para a nova tecnologia, eu acho que era algo sobre o GTK3.

Não é bem assim…, eu estou aprendendo com você. Se eu não conseguir fazer alguma coisa, eu peço a sua ajuda, contudo o HexChat é fundamental para a comunicação rápida e instantânea.

-I have no way to place the localization files in Transifex – only Xecure can do that, and for some reason he has been away from the forum (I hope everything is ok with him…)
-There are installable .deb packages available in the gitlab page, but I also provided a compressed more up to date version of the source code than anyone can compile, following the instructions provided on the gitlab page
– Version 1.1 is very near to the final version, that I expect will be really “final” for quite some time – it was revamped to include support for hi DPI screens, and now includes GUI scripts to select fonts. The latest change was the inclusion of clock related apps- FT10 now includes a GUI multi-timezone clock, a chronometer, a multi-timer (with the ability to suspend the computer after X minutes or seconds) and an Alarm. Basically FT10 includes all the basic features that any smartphone has (and much more).
– I’ll have to clear up the “multi-timer” localization files and then I can take care of localization (sorry Wallon- that’s the reason I still haven’t sent you any files).Thanks for all the support,

I installed the latest FT10 package received today by private message from someone you know well. You already knew that!
I have a small problem with the installation of the clock. See the printscreen of the options chosen during the installation.
A terminal window opens to install the clock.
Here is the code (I can’t get the information in English). I type “Yes” and … nothing happens. Not a single line appears in the Terminal window. Either it’s top secret or it’s a bug ?

Dear Wallon – you have no need to install gnome-clocks – all features it has are already included in the new FT10-clock app. That particular entry of the FT10 configuration menu will be removed or replaced with another nice little app…
Just install FT10 and right click the clock on the toolbar (or launch the Clock from it’s “Tile”, or search “Clock” on the menu…)P.
EDIT: I forgot to address this point – when you are installing any package from the repositories using apt (this means using the terminal) and you are asked to confirm if you wish to proceed, if the question is localized (and it is, because it came up in french) all you have to do is to press the first letter of the answer you want (the final line, between brackets, shows the options): O/n (“O” for “Oui” / “n” for “Non”). Also the default answer is always shown in capital letter. Pressing enter accepts the default answer without having to type anything else. In apt’s case the default answer is saying yes, allowing the action (or “Oui”, in your case).

Good news, everyone:
Thanks to anticapitalista, the latest FT10 stable release (version 1.1) is now included (along with it’s dependency jgmenu-antix) in the official antiX repository.
This means that, now to install the latest stable release you have 2 choices:
-Install FT10 from Synapatic (search for “FT10” and then install it)
-Install from the terminal:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install ft10-transformationOnce the package is installed, go to the antiX menu > Preferences > “FT10 enable…” to use FT10.
(If you wish to go back to the default antiX look: antiX menu > Preferences > “FT10 disable…”)As always, to have access to the latest (unstable) version, you can download it’s .deb package from https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/ft10-transformation/-/tree/main/packages and then install it (you no longer to worry with the jgmenu dependency, since it’s now on the repository), just install it as you would any other .deb file (using gdebi, or any other GUI package installer, or the terminal).
The only difference between the stable release and the beta version I’m currently working on is that it has some minor visual improvements and also some major updates to FT10-Clock related scripts (stopwatch, Timers, World-clock with a fully working GUI)
This version will soon become FT10 version 1.2.I’m trying to get the localization files on Transifex (sorry, Robin, the World-clock GUI is taking longer than I expected).

Hello PPC and all others in here, I’ve downloaded the latest .deb file I found on gitlab and extracted all files without installing them (As I told you I can’t do this right now here due to both hardware and update problems.)
Tried to find some .pot files I could upload to transifex, but there are .mo files only within the packages, and on gitlab I saw .po files only. If you have got .po files, there must have been .pot files before somewhere… But they might be stored at your local PC somewhere probably. So I decided to create the .pot files directly from all the scriptfiles within the package anew. I do hope the resulting language files will work as expected. There are some new ressources now for translation of this FT package on antiX-Contribs at transifex.
Please let me know if something is missing or I did upload to much files. I didn’t look into it how all these scripts from within your .deb package work together, simply created the .pot files from them and uploaded all together to transifex. So simply scream loudly, if I did something wrong 🙂
And another additional hint:
I noticed there are still some hard coded paths left over within some of the scripts you need to replace, since e.g.
bash -c /home/paulo/Transferências/ft10-clock/cli-stopwatch.sh
will only work on your own PC.Hoping to be back to normal functionality on my machines soon, but might take some time anyway. The one of them suffers from hardware issue, the other from update issue… So the above was all I could do for now.

I haven’t checked exhaustively, but it seems to be just right- Only the .desktop files are missing- I really have no idea if they can directly placed in Transifex or there’s some kind of adaption I have to perform…Thanks for spotting the script that refers to my “home”- I already deleted it- It was just a remnant left over from the time I was testing the best window size for the chronometer (please note, that, usually, when I leave a script with “OLD” in the end, it’s because having that original version can be handy for future development, any such file is not there by mistake, although I realize that practice may bloat the package by some kb…)- I checked one, by one every single script file and found no mention to my personal “home”- It probably should not exist, since I used to test every .deb on a fresh antiX 21 virtual image before uploading it to gitlab… But because it took so long I’ve been testing on my real hardware- that may, unfortunately cause bug like having the script use my own personal home folder…
I would also like to make a small pool here over this week:
-FT10 includes some extra small scripts that are not part of the default antiX:
-Weather, News, world-clock CLI, FT10-clock (that includes a GUI world clock, a stopwatch, multi-timers with the capability to suspend the computer after a certain time, an alarm, a calendar that’s also a simple agenda without any sort of alarm)I created previously some other apps I’m thinking about including in FT10 version 1.2:
–Translate – it’s a tiny script that uses on-line translation services to translate any highlighted text and present it, translated to the system language, in a yad window
–Debinstaller – it’s a very basic GUI off-line .deb package installer – still lacks some features, but it’s insanely fast when compared to gdebi and it’s just a front end to “sudo apt install” – it follows the same UI guide lines “antiX Updater” uses- show the terminal to provide info for the user, but the user does not have to type a single command, it’a all GUI centric. This can be handy in antiX 19 and older because it’s more realiable than gdebi and in antiX 21, that lacks an off-line GUI .deb package installer.
–antiX Cloud– it’a GUI that provides easy access to Cloud drives from inside your default file manager. It can configure Google Drive with a single click (all other Cloud services have to be configured by a Cli menu)
Note: “Translate” does not have to be localized (only it’s .desktop file). Debinstaller is completly usable in any language (and the “Translate” script was created to be used in conjuntion with it- highligh the .deb’s description and launch “Translate” to read a localized description). Cloud does have much more text that needs localizing (it even has a “help file”).
So: should any or all of these scripts be included in the next FT10 release?P.
