I verified: you should compare it.it with pt.pt and every voice is located at the very same place, except our main menus 3 and 4 which have their positions reversed. To compare with en.us will be much more complicate 🙂

@madibi – during the weekend, and last night, I worked on the script that manages the quick-launch icons on the toolbar- please test it… It’s available here: https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/ft10-transformation/-/raw/main/tim-tint.sh

To use the script – open a text editor on an empty file, copy the text of the provided link to the text file and save it, under the name tim-tint.sh on your home folder. Using the file manager, right click it and make it executable. Then all you have to do, every time you want to use the script is right click the file and execute it.

Edit: please backup your ~/.config/tint2/tint2rc file before testing this script, just to be on the safe side!

Changes:
-The “remove icon” menu should display the localized names of the applications
-The “move” part of the script was rebuild from the scratch, so it should always work (please note that the “Move icon” window does not currently display the icon, only the Localized name of the application and it’s .desktop file- my main concern was to make this work correctly, then I’ll try to “make it pretty”).

New script installed and tested.
After 30′ try, I can say that all work as expected.

Tonight I saw that I missed a translation. In fact, in the pop up that informs that 8 days were gone without installation, in the “ok button” that is not ok, instead it is “actualizar el sistema” , the Italian version should be “aggiornare il sistema”.
I didn’t notice it because that pop up didn’t appear.

Many thanks for your continuous efforts to improve and promote this beautiful distro.

Hello PPC, I was not able to test as exhaustively as madibi, but the 3 functions of adding, moving and removing icons in the FT10 toolbar worked perfectly in the 6 or 7 tests I did. In the 3 functions the pt-BR language was being displayed correctly.

Thank you so much for yet another great improvement to tim-tint.sh.

Olá PPC, eu não consegui testar tão exaustivamente como o madibi, mas funcionou perfeitamente as 3 funções de adicionar, mover e remover ícones na barra de ferramentas do FT10 nos 6 ou 7 testes que eu fiz. Nas 3 funções o idioma pt-BR estava sendo exibido corretamente.

Muito obrigado por mais esta excelente melhoria no tim-tint.sh.

@ everyone else – I think FT10 version 1.4 is ready for the final version, as soon as madibi answers me 🙂

Changes:
-the script that configures and adds some new functions to zzzfm now also preconfigures the option to run zzzfm in root mode (I needed that feature and noticed that, the default open in root window was missconfigured).
-the script that manages toolbar quick launch icons had some major changes: the “delete icon” window now show display the localized application names (for those of you that don’t use English as the system language) and the “move icon” window should also display the localized application’s name (but not it’s icon).
-some minor improvements
-some localization changes (in pt-br and it)

If anyone noticed any problem with the latest beta, please do point it out, so I can try to solve it before producing this final version…

Some changes where not included in this latest beta – I was able to reuse localization strings and provide localized titles for the “move” and “remove quick” launch icons from the toolbar, making FT10 slightly better localized- those changes will be present on the final 1.4 version (please note that the “add” quick launch toolbar icon opens app-select to choose the app that will be added to the toolbar, so I can’t change any of that window’s contents)

I installed the 4.9 making “purge” of the previous installed FT10, and then “install”

In the Italian menu, the voices with FT are:

1. FT10 – attivare la barra o scegliere il tipo di menu
2. FT10 – Disattivare
3. FT10 – Gestire i segnalibri del menu
4. FT10 – Gestire la barra degli strumenti

In the following text the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4, will be “the trunk” of a “tree structure”.
Please consider that making a comparison between it.it menu and pt-pt menu, the it.it point #4 is the pt-pt point #3 and vice-versa.

1. in the frame: “FT10 menus” → “FT10 menu” or simply “FT10”

1.1.7 “auto-updates” → “aggiornamenti automatici”

2. all is OK

3. all the translations are OK

please note that the 3.3 and 3.4 sub menus are without icons, you already wrote me that they still need a bit of make-up.
Moreover I should point out that in 4.1.3 the same sub menus are provided together with their icons.

At the end of the procedure, a button appears with the write “Finished” → “Finito”.

Last food for thought: taking into consideration the target of FT10, my opinion is that sub menu 3.1 may be considered a bit complicate/unfriendly.

I will test this release until Saturday. In case of further reports I will activate.

1- I’ll probably use “FT10 – Menu”

1.1.7 – Unfortunately “auto-updates” can be localized with a partial rewrite of this script – which I don’t have time to do right now

4.2- I’ll try to implement “superiore” → “alto”

4.7- I’m not sure if I can change that title (I can’t check right now)- if I can change this title, I’ll try to do it the same way I did, when I localized the “move” and “remove” toolbar quick launch window…

On your thoughts on the 3.1- Since jgmenu (the program that is used to create the menu used in FT10) does not allow to drag and drop icons, the only way to allow users to add/remove applications from the menu was using a script – it’s as simple as I can make it… antiX is not Windows nor MacOS, not even with FT10 – there’s somethings that I simply have no way to implement… Many users have tested FT10, some use it full time – and no one has yet complained that it was too hard to manage the Menu “Favorite Apps”. I’m hopping that the entire User Interface is simple enough for most users coming from other systems… I could remove the “Advanced Options”, to simplify that window, but that would make life for more advanced users, that are ok with editing config files, a bit harder.
A note on this – I adapted antiX’s original Toolbar Icon Manager for IceWM to be used in FT10 – hence the very similar layout.
On a more technical note – managing toolbar icons on the tint2 toolbar or the menu, takes some serious scripting, and editing the toolbar is more complex than editing the menu (the icons themselves are written on the menu config file, while the toolbar does not work directly with the icon images- it extracts them from the .desktop files of the applications). That’s why both scripts look different – I have not had time to alter the script that manages the menu entries, to make it display the icons of the applications- I think that it’s not a serious flaw, since a menu entry always has to have the application name, and a toolbar icon is… just an icon… So I directed my effort on having icons on the script that removes toolbar icons.

For now I won’t be spending more time changing the script that edits the menu… FT10 is basically a “one man show”, I create most of the scripts it uses, I adapted some (like the multi-timer and the alarm), I contacted the jgmenu menu and applied a patch to that program, so it renders localized entries on the correct order, I created the icons the toolbar uses, so they always can be seen either under a light or dark background…
…All that is a very time consuming project- I simply can’t wait to finish version 1.4 and then rest from FT10! 🙂

I know it’s a lot of work for one person and you’re probably pretty tired, but can I make another suggestion?

My suggestion is for us to do the following steps:

1 – Complete all necessary modifications to the FT10 texts in English.
2 – Make all .pot, .po and .desktop files available to Robin, so he can send them to Transifex contribs.
(Probably missing some steps that I didn’t describe between step 1 and 2)
3 – I can help Robin, if he can guide me via HexChat to start the automatic translation program he created to translate the other languages ​​that have not yet benefited and in the future native people will be able to make the necessary corrections and adaptations . I can keep a computer on and connected to the internet all day working on machine translation with Robin’s script.
4 – Collect all new .po files from Transifex.
5 – PPC creates the final package with all these translations, the translations done by people and the translations by machine translation.
6 – The anticapitalista receives the final package with the translations.

Eu sei que é muito trabalho para uma única pessoa e que você já deve estar bastante cansado, mas eu posso dar uma outra sugestão?

A minha sugestão é para nós fazermos as etapas a seguir:

1 – Concluir todas as modificações necessárias nos textos do FT10 em idioma Inglês.
2 – Disponibilizar todos os arquivos .pot, .po e .desktop ao Robin, para ele poder enviar para o Transifex contribs.
(Provavelmente faltam algumas etapas que eu não descrevi entre a etapa 1 e 2)
3 – Eu posso ajudar o Robin, se ele puder me orientar via HexChat a colocar em funcionamento o programa de tradução automática que ele criou para traduzir os outros idiomas que ainda não foram beneficiados e no futuro as pessoas nativas poderão fazer as correções e adaptações necessárias. Eu posso manter um computador ligado e conectado à internet durante o dia todo trabalhando na tradução automática com o script do Robin.
4 – Colher do Transifex todos os novos arquivos .po.
5 – O PPC cria o pacote final com todas estas traduções, as traduções feitas por pessoas e as traduções por tradução automática.
6 – O anticapitalista recebe o pacote final com as traduções.
