::Hello PPC.
I just tested the ft10-transformation_0.9.9.8c_all.deb version. All my reviews I have privately messaged to you. I have reviewed all .desktop and .po files with regard to pt-BR language texts. Please use the corrections from the texts I sent you, if you authorize me, I can upload these files to contribs GitLab. The functionality in my opinion is perfect, only the details related to the translated texts are missing.
My sincere thanks to you PPC for all your work, dedicated time and commitment to the FT10. To provoke a certain someone (laughs), it can be called FT10-11 or FT10/11.
My thanks to everyone who is supporting the testing and development of the FT10.

::PPC,
From the older version – I noticed the install of gnome-clocks was still running (it had apt locked) from yesterday. Not a big deal, but that was evidently the holdup before.
I rebooted the flashdrive, and reinstalled from scratch. I did not select dunst or gnome clocks to install this time.
Future objectives that I would see:
1. gnome clocks – I’m not familiar with it, but would guess you wouldn’t have been building it in if it wasn’t worth having
2. dunst – I really do want dunst, I think, because at some point, I would like to an alarm on low battery (pretty important). Maybe the alarm functionality could also be used to monitor for low disk space (not as common these days I guess).
3. Recycle bin thing, wondering how important that is?
4. Get updater running daily, a linux newbie isn’t going to figure out its not there until something bad happens, putting them in a “problem” situation.Install went fine, but if I was to suggest, if cbm is going to get built in as a program used, it might as well make be a dependency of ft10 so it just gets installed automatically along with tint2. I say that because when I right clicked the network icon, it installed cbm and left the install window up. I closed it, and the next time I right clicked the network icon cbm worked fine, so it all worked in the end, but a newbie person might get confused as to what was going on. cbm does have the basic info I was looking for.
I’d say make gnome clocks invisible till it is working well, and make cbm a dependency so it installs when doing installs, and call it a day 🙂
It sure does look and feel nice from an ex-windows user perspective. I also tested adding file and program shortcuts to the desktop and running them. That worked nicely too, the only problem being linux terminology of “link” vs Windows “shortcut”, both meaning the same thing.

::3. Recycle bin thing, wondering how important that is?
Hello BobC.
A former Windows user needs to have the Recycle Bin, even if they never need it. As I wrote in the other thread:
13. Add the Recycle Bin explained by PPC without the need for the trash-cli package in zzzFM. Include the trash.desktop file in the /usr/share/applications folder and apply the command $ sudo desktop-menu –write-out-global for the icon to be displayed in the menu.
I think the trash should not be installed automatically or configured (they are different methods that PPC taught in the topic at Portuguese language), as experienced antiX users might not want to have the Recycle Bin, but it would be a great option if you have this item in the notification box that pops up when we click on the menu “FT10 – Activate…”.
Another solution that I use, was taught by PPC, I will prepare all Recycle Bin settings in zzzFM with the “demo” user, as this image. On all installations of antiX 21 (or antiX 19.4 on SpaceFM) I copy the “session” file which is all configured to the /.config/zzzfm folder using Rox-Filer (zzzFM or SpaceFM cannot be open during the replacement of the file “session”), then I open the file “session” with the text editor Geany, I do the automatic replacement of the username “demo” by the username I created when installing antiX. I save the file and after that, everything works. Then I copy the .desktop file from the Recycle Bin to /usr/share/applications and apply the command $ sudo desktop-menu –write-out-global for the icon to be displayed in the menu.
The text file explains in detail each step of this process in graphical mode, if you can translate the text file into English, I will include it on archive.org , so other people will be able to understand the explanatory text.
My greetings.

Olá BobC.
Um ex usuário do Windows precisa ter a Lixeira, mesmo se nunca for precisar dela. Conforme eu escrevi no outro tópico:
Meus cumprimentos.

::Hello PPC.
The problem with the tim-tint and jgmenu editor translations was that they use the texts from the IceWM TIM translations. As reported by Wallon in another thread, IceWM TIM lost translation in recent update.
I have sent you the .pot, .po and .mo files of the prepared scripts to receive translations.– – – – –
December 20, 2021 at 9:34 pm #73359MemberRobin
::I don’t have installed this translation pack, since I’m not that a great ms-windows fan, so I don’t like to have antiX looking like imitating Windows. But am I mistaken, shouldn’t be some translatable strings present somewhere? Is the .pot file ready for upload, or uploaded to transifex aleady (can’t find it right now). Please let me know, I could upload the pot-file if it is still missing, so translators could start to fill in all of our supported languages. Or did I simply miss the resource, not knowing its correct transifex-“slug”?
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::Robin, none of these files have been uploaded to Transifex, the .pot or .po files from GitLab contribs are out of date.
You are very welcome in this project. Your great skill could make a lot of difference.
The idea is to make operating system migration more user-friendly, in addition to allowing you to activate or deactivate the FT10 at any time.– – – – –
December 21, 2021 at 6:22 am #73365ModeratorBobC
::Marcelo, I was able to translate the document, but can’t find the files referred to:
ZzzFM Settings with Recycle Bin en-US 04-11-2021.zip (in the document) or trashcan-antix.zip (from the threads)
Previously, I was able to implement the trash.cli with zzzfm, but didn’t figure out a way to implement a matching function for rox-filer, and felt that they both needed to implement the function (it would be best if it worked for all file managers included with antiX, ie: mc – midnight commander too, but I doubt that is possible)

Hi Robin – the “Transformation Pack” is much more than something aimed at makes antiX look like Windows- it aims to make antiX far more user friendly and even easier to configure- it features this:
– A simpler menu – you can switch between a menu with the default categories (plus “All apps”), and have access to only those categories, the default system icons (exit, control center, xkill, default file manager, recent files) or have a even simpler menu that lists all apps (plus the default system icons), and “Tiles” -icons that launch the default system apps, plus LibreOffice apps, smtube etc. The “Tiles” can be turned off, making the menu look even simpler. Both menus (categories / tiles) are fully searchable, plus you can add/remove favorite apps with a couple of clicks- so it’s extremely easy accessing your preferred apps or searching all installed apps
– The toolbar is basically a normal toolbar similar to the one featured in icewm and jwm, but it offers live previews of non minimized windows, plus it shows user friendly, human readable stats about CPU and RAM usage. Clicking the “+/-” icon allows to manage the “launcher” icons that are shown in the toolbar. Right click that very same icon to manage the toolbar (set it’s size, position, auto-hide status, switch between dark/light mode, show window titles in the toolbar, etc)
– The toolbar includes a simple audio volume manager (that does not stay resident in RAM, like volumeicon does)
– It includes a “Weather app” (that launches a wttr.in window, fully localized to the user’s language, and better at getting your location than the default wttr.in app), and a “News app”- that allows you to read headlines of news in many countries around the world, no browser needed
– It’s fully localized to pt and pt-br, partly localized to Spanish, can be localized, to any language, by editing several language files, available at antiX-contribs, in gitlab.
– It offers to automatically install some possible useful apps (like zzzfm, not included in antiX 19, dunst- for system notifications, compton- for position, and gnome-clocks- for accessing clocks in several time zones, set alarms, etcMy aim is both make transitioning to antiX from Windows 10 easier – antiX with FT10 looks a bit more similar to that OS, icons look like what ex-windows folks expect them to look, are placed where they expected them to be and to similar functions to what they expect them to do… and also create a clean and simple environment, without having to install a Desktop Environment (antiX with FT10 runs in a very similar way that a distro with KDE installed does, without using extra system resources compared to the default rox-icewm setup).
I’m an advanced antiX user, and I’ve been using this toolbar and menu for months- it makes antix even easier to use, at least to me, it does- and can activated/deactivated with a single click in the preferences sub-menu.
Once FT10 version 1.0 is out, I’ll try to update the language files in gitlab, so you can translate them, if you wish to 🙂- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by PPC.

::@Marcelocripe – I’ll try to test the localization files today and tomorrow- I was busy with family, and also creating a new icon set to be used in the toolbar and the menu, that remains easily readable in light and dark modes…
@BobC- I’ll try to find out if there’s a way to edit in the “Trash can” into zzzfm’s config file- but it’s not easy…
I’ve been thinking about what you said about automatic updates- I could add an entry that allows to setup mx’s apt updater thingie- I don’t use it because it stays resident in RAM. Another option is setting up an acron job to force yad-updater to run daily? I don’t like forcing choices to users- I prefer to tell them that, like in android phones, you should, every now and then click the check updates icons…If all goes well the next version will feature corrected language files, a new set of icons, a better light mode. maybe increased compatibility with jwm…

::Yes, I got Marcelos instructions translated, and can see that what is needed is to identify what needs to be added, changed or be deleted from the existing file if one was to change it from a manual installation process to a programmed one.
I did find instructions for adding a recycle bin to Rox filer also.

::Good news, everyone:
FT10 0.9.9.8g is out
Changes:
-New and improved “light mode” (now really really “light”)
-New icon set, some icons built from sctrach, some adapted to be visible now matter if you are in dark or light mode
-New localization files for the menu and toolbar managers (since the original localization dependend on the “Toolbar Icon Manager for IceWM” localization files, that is now broken- thanks for the extra localization files, Marcelocripe!To do:
– try to add extra features to FT10’s config script;
– adjust some iconsFeel free to take this for a spin- all suggestions are welcome, but I’m almost at the limit of my “programming” skills- I had a bit of fun messing with the icons, the (not) final result looks, to me, pretty nice…

::I wasn’t able to put version 1 out before Christmas, but it’s very near to it:
Version 0.9.9.8h improves the new icon theme and aplies it to “categories menu”, also solves a bug with the “categories menu” light mode, and adds desktop-sessions startup to the backup/restore processes when you activate/deactivate FT10…Merry Christmas,

::A new version – 0.9.9j is out.
Changes:
-New icons on the menu- the latest one did not look as I wanted them to look in “light mode”- these ones look perfect both in dark and light modes
-I finally got why the “jgmenu-editor” .desktop file never appeared in jgmenu searches- it refures to show any .desktop file that point to a command that starts with “jgmenu” so I had to rename the previous “jgmenu-editor” script to “jmenu”- if you have a precious FT10 version installed, please open the menu, search for “jgmenu”, run it and choose the first option, to manually edit the config file and change “jgmenu-editor.sh” to “jmenu-editor.sh” and save the changes (you’ll have to do that both on the tiled menu layout and the categories menu layout).
-Marcelo still does not like the new “light mode” – if anyone (hey there BobC) finds out a better color to use for the default light node color, send it my way and I ‘ll try it out…
-I don’t like adding dependencies (that’s why I gave up on using Rofi as default file search app) so I did not add “cbm” as a dependency, but I fixed it’s script to if it’s not installed, the system tries to install it and then starts cbm automatically. For some reason, when launching directly from the tint2rc file, cbm’s window refuses to display the wi-fi network name, so I left that feature out for now…
-After Marcelo looks over some localization files, I’ll use this version as 1.0… -
