      I have installed Xfce destop from the default Package Installer. In icewm desktop, I had it set to auto-login. Now, in Xfce, no matter how many times I set it to auto-login in “User Manager”, it asks for the password – does not go to the desktop directly. I have also noticed that the dialogue in the menus is cropped off so that you cannot read the whole descriptions – even on “Maximize”. Wondering if there is a connection there. Maybe a setting that is cropped out? Otherwise, the desktop is running nicely.

      Any input would be very much appreciated.

      Thank you.

        I don’t run XFCE or use auto login.

        You might wanna look for a script that does auto login in

        $ cd /usr/local/bin
        harry@biker:/usr/local/bin
        $ ls

        But that is just a poke and hope guess on my part. Like I said. I am not hip on XFCE in AntiX or autologin.

          Does it automatically login with icewm? Or just had it set to and it did not?

          What is in ~/.desktop-session/default-desktop?
          What is in /etc/slim/slim.conf?

            Thank you for your help – after trying to edit lightdm.conf and set to auto-login unsuccessfully, I finally figured it out and no more login screen.

            /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/01_debian.conf

            autologin-user=username
            autologin-user-timeout=0

            I am having the same problem with USB mounting – have to mount manually and cannot unmount at all, yet every setting I can find is set to auto-mount. I suspect it will be a similar configuration edit as auto-login – just need to find it.

            Thanks again! You got me going in the right direction.
