I’m trying to put the above on another computer. I created the USB, inserted it, F12…and it boots into the original OS (full).

Some motherboards only boot from the USB device after you change the boot priority of the hard disk in the BIOS and select the USB device as the main disk, exit and save the changes.
Once again you start a topic and don’t tell us the make and model of the computer, what’s left for us to do is guess what might be going on. Do you remember what I and other people have written several times here on the forum?

Algumas placas-mães, só iniciam pelo dispositivo USB após você alterar no BIOS a prioridade de incialização do disco rígido e selecionar o dispositivo USB como disco principal, sair e salvar as alterações.
Como mais uma vez você inicia um tópico e não nos informa a marca e modelo do computador, o quer resta para nós e ficar tentando adivinhar o que pode estar acontecendo. Você se lembra do que eu e outras pessoas já escreveram várias vezes aqui no fórum?

The laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 300-11IBR-80M1.
I have changed the BIOS to boot the USB first days ago. Since then I have attempted the install at least a dozen times.Live-USB = zzz-IceWM-antiX21-runit-64-base: static persistence

It has antiX-full-64 already installed on it.

Peter Linu, I found this Recommended way to enter BIOS – ideapad.
I’ve seen a laptop of another make and model (Samsung) that had two systems that prevented the installation of operating systems other than Windows 10. A “protection” system was on one of the hard disk partitions, the other ” protection” was in the BIOS. When I was able to update the BIOS, I was also able to access the BIOS, then I booted via USB device and with GParted I formatted the hard drive. Now that laptop can run any operating system, including antiX Linux.
I don’t know if this is the case for the Lenovo Yoga 300-11IBR-80M1 laptop, but some BIOS after taking out the USB device makes the hard drive the first boot device instead of the USB device.– – – – –
Peter Linu, eu encontrei isto Recommended way to enter BIOS – ideapad.
Eu já vi um laptop de outra marca e modelo (Samsung) que possuia dois sistemas que impediam a instalação de outros sistemas operacionais diferentes do Windows 10. Um sistema de “proteção” estava em uma das partições do disco rígido, o outro sistema de “proteção” estava no BIOS. Quando eu consegui atualizar o BIOS, consegui também acessar o BIOS, depois iniciei via dispositivo USB e com o GParted formatei o disco rígido. Agora aquele laptop pode receber qualquer sistema operacional, inclusive o antiX Linux.
Eu não sei se é este o caso do laptop Lenovo Yoga 300-11IBR-80M1, mas alguns BIOS após retirar o dispositivo USB torna o disco rígido o primeiro dispositivo de inicialização no lugar do dispositivo USB.
