Greetings, everyone.
After years of using Mepis and MX, I decided to give antiX a try.
I downloaded the full 64-bit .iso via torrent and created a live USB with Rufus.
However, when I boot the live USB and press Enter to boot into the OS, I get a message that there has been an error and that I have to load the kernel first.
I don’t know if it’s a coincidental error but it put me off the whole process. Is that an issue or what…?Thank in advance.

::Since you have MX Linux, like antiX, it has a Live USB Maker, so you ought to be able to make a decent USB that can run antiX.
You ought to have pretty good results UNLESS you’re relying exclusively on the “AHS”, Advanced Hardware Support capabilities found in MX Linux. Nevertheless, I’ve never allowed ANYTHING to prevent me from getting into antiX. Two of my newest computer systems needed newer kernels, wireless modules, and libraries.That didn’t stop me; I first found a system that worked, figured out what it had that was lacking and copied it into an antiX distro, which WOULD boot, it just didn’t have up to date networking. Those issues have since been resolved because we now have both old and new kernels and module support.
Please give us some information so we can be of more help.
Copy and paste the contents of the command inxi -Fxz from your MX system; maybe we can help.

::Thanks for the answer.
Let me clarify that I tried it through Windows, which means nothing since I’ve made lots of live USBs on Windows.
I tried it a second time after downloading the .iso from SourceForge and making the live USB on Balena Etcher.
Also, there is that.
Nope…It didn’t work this time, either. I guess this is goodbye.
Pity…I wanted to try it out…- This reply was modified 1 week, 3 days ago by BearMan.

::I guess it’s back to either Windows or MX Linux then; for me, there’s zero question on that one! MX Linux, without a doubt, but as I also said, I don’t give up.
Driver missing? I snag one and fit it in place, then away I go. But that’s not everyone, and I understand. Best wishes with whatever you do. Take care.--

::Dear BearMan,
Under Windows, I advise you to make your Live USB stick with Rufus.
It works well if you choose the right options.
Don’t give up.Best regards,

::That may be a Uefi thing;
convince your bios to run it as legacy mode.Thanks for coming by.
Do you look only for “stable” systems?
It is a good time for your shopping, at this time anticipating bookworm debian.
Try antiX again soon, or you can try it after the next final release of the latest “stable.”April 23, 2023 at 12:16 am #105254Moderator

::@ile and @caprea:
It seems that this was the issue.
I didn’t turn off the secure boot option
before booting into the live USB.
I realized this was it when I made an MX live USB and had the same issue.
I was able to boot into MX KDE edition.
Thanks for the tip, guys. -
