Both of my dell latitudes have conexant dialup modems in them which
seem not to work on any kernel so far. I was wondering if anybody has
had luck with these. I one D110 and one D330 dialup modem. The dialup
utility in control-cetre doesn’t detect them.March 30, 2018 at 10:40 pm #8505Moderator

::You can try to install modemmanager, maybe helps.
I didnt have much luck with wvdial for my usb-modem and had to install network-manager.
You can read it in the other post about umts-panel, perhaps you find another solution.March 30, 2018 at 11:30 pm #8509Anonymous
::thx caprea,
From what I can gather online these are pure winmodems and would need a proprietory driver, so I’m
going to take them out and toss. I’m looking for a modem that works with linux
without any sort of ndiswrapper stuff,April 3, 2018 at 10:37 pm #8694Membermalanrich
::My desktops have been nothing but Dells and for years Modem Blaster v.92 were the modems that worked always and without fail (external through USB). Don’t know if they’re still available, but if you can find them they seem to always connect to Linux (Mepis, MX, antiX–desktop and laptop).

::The problem is that my dell laptop don’t have free usb ports when I have it
running…only has 3 usb ports and one is the fan, one is a mouse, and the other
is a usb memory stick. I’ll see if my friend has a external powered usb ports. -
