Until recently, when I have needed a VPN (eg., to enhance security at a WiFi hotspot) I have used AirVPN. Their Eddie client works nicely on 32 bit Antix17, and cooperates with WICD. However, AirVPN does not have servers in a country that I would like to visit. Many other VPNs do. A few offer GUI interfaces (but most are 64 bit). Several use CLI interface and Network Manager. I would like to avoid NM. A few have their own CLI apps (eg., ExpressVPN and cyberghost).

According to the Eddie website, their beta version may be usable with VPN providers other than AirVPN. However, everything that I have read says it is problematic.

vpnunlimited has a “nice looking” 32bit linux Debian GUI (downloadable from their site) which can be installed as a dpkg.

Before installing something from outside the distro repos, I’m asking…

Is this worthwhile? or, is there a risk of messing up my system?

      Thanks for your thoughts!
