I’m using Antix since Antix13 (almost exclusively the fluxbox desktop), but I never ever got app killer working. I don’t particularly care: in most cases htop can handle hung up apps. But I am just wondering: am I the only one? Or do I miss something completely obvious???
I always thought it worked like this: choose ‘App killer’, you get a cross-formed cursor, move it to the window of the hung up application and click in it, the window should disappear. Except it doesn’t. I also tried <Alt-F2>, type xkill, cross cursor appears, click anywhere, nothing happens.

::IF by ” app killer” you mean the menu entry for “xkill”- I used it a lot- click it and the mouse pointer turns into an “X” left click the window you want closed and it’s instantly killed (if all goes well well)- it’s so handy when using computers with low system resources, that I make a point of always having it available on the first layer of my customized menu (I’m using jgmenu as my default “start menu”). If you change your mind, and don’t want to force close any window, just right click, and the mouse pointer gets back to normal.
If you use a key binding for this command, it’s even easier to close any misbehaving window…Edit: for some reason the last paragraph of the OP was off screen and I didn’t notice it when I replied… Please try, as advised, to run xkill from the terminal and check for any errors while launching it- I’ve used this application on probably half dozen computers with very different specs, since antiX 16, and it never failed me…

::Always worked for me, I’m very surprised it didn’t for you since antiX13. Are there any hints typing xkill from terminal?
Oh, I’ve just seen, it indeed doesn’t work on fluxbox —.
Not true, also works on fluxbox here.- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by caprea.

::Another mystery solved 😀
When I run xkill from a terminal, it says:
Select the window whose client you wish to kill with button 3....I bet it normally says ‘button 1’, but I’m a left-handed mouser! I remembered from long ago (back when I only knew about Windows, and I did my very first experiments with Linux) I had to LEFT click, and it never crossed my mind to try another button. Quite hilarious, really… 😀
