Hi, I just noticed this ANTIFA software team!
I’m glad to be here!

Try to find a way to search and open my apps quicker. Maybe open App Select with a shortcut?

Howdi!

If you mean a “shortcut” key, that is already available, out of the box in the default Icewm desktop- “Ctrl+Space” launches app-select…
If you mean a “shortcut” icon on your default icewm toolbar, you can do that too: you can use Menu > antiX > Toolbar Icon Manager for Icewm and select to add apps-select’s icon or you can make it more personalized:
Menu > Control Centre > Edit IceWM … > “toolbar” tab > add, anywhere you want it, a line similar to this:
prog "App-select" /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48x48/actions/cm_search.png app-select

Save the file and restart your session (or restart antiX) to see the change.

You can choose any “name” or “description” to pop up when you hover the mouse pointer over the icon (like “search apps”), also you can select any icon you want- I use the magnifying glass icon because I’m just used to it…

A bit off topic, but handy tip:

For very low resources uses, you can try installing “rofi” and add a launcher to it to the toolbar.
Installing rofi – via the terminal:
sudo apt install rofi

using Rofi to search for apps by app name or description:
rofi -modi drun,window,run -show drun -show-icons -sidebar-mode -location 0 -width 360

If you want to add rofi in app launcher mode to your toolbar, adapting the steps explained above you can add this line to the “Toolbar” config file, anywhere you want the icon to appear, something like this:

prog "Find apps" /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48x48/actions/cm_search.png "rofi -modi drun,window,run -show drun -show-icons -sidebar-mode -location 0 -width 360"

i got in Icewm desktop but “Ctrl+Space” launches window options and not the app-select…

another question is how do I add app shortcuts in the panel

i used key "F12" rofi -modi drun,window,run -show drun -show-icons -sidebar-mode -location 0 -width 360 at the key tab.
i also have Strg button and Fn in my Fujitsu. Does anyone know what is their keystroke so i can use them for shortcuts?

Hi Nikospg,

If you liked PPC’s suggestion about Rofi, you can use the shortcut icons “.desktop” after installing Rofi. Download https://archive.org/details/rofi-pesquisador-de-aplicativos-e-arquivos-para-o-antix. In the compressed ZIP, file there are two shortcut icons “.desktop”, one for searching applications and another for searching files, in addition to a script created by PPC itself to make searching files work. It has a text file explaining how to use the “.desktop” files and the script, but the text is written in Brazilian Portuguese, it would be necessary to translate it into your language with the help of an internet translator.

I don’t know how to write in English and I will send you my texts translated by the internet translator, I hope you can understand everything.

Se você gostou da sugestão do PPC sobre o Rofi, você poderá utilizar os ícones de atalho “.desktop” após instalar o Rofi. Baixe https://archive.org/details/rofi-pesquisador-de-aplicativos-e-arquivos-para-o-antix. No arquivo compactado ZIP, exitem dois ícones de atalho “.desktop”, um para pesquisa de aplicativos e outro para pesquisa de arquivos, além de um script criado pelo próprio PPC para que a pesquisa de arquivos funcione. Tem um arquivo de texto explicando como usar os arquivos “.desktop” e o script, mas o texto está escrito em idioma Português do Brasil, seria necessário traduzir para o seu idioma com a ajuda de um tradutor da internet.
