      I noticed this at the end of the updater text screen when the menu went empty. I do wonder if it is caused by something that I did. Does anyone else have the issue, like Caprea, maybe?

        Hi, I (almost) always update using CLI and I often see the same (or at least very similar) AttributeError when updating when remotely SSH-connected to an antiX-21 (stable) machine.

        EDIT: I use ‘fluxbox’ almost exclusively.

          Several occurences of menu entrys lost, was able to recover most entrys with the
          rewrite menu button, rest with controll center tool, show items.

          Would be be very frustrating for a new user without a helper to call.
          There were some weird lines in my desktop session log but they seem to recurr
          intermittently and seem chromium sandbox and or java JRE related.

            Yes, I have been using the Refresh Menu the last couple times it has happened, but I was hoping that this time I’d caught it in the act, and might be able to figure out why, and get it fixed.

            Maybe its because I had ~/.icewm/menu-applications open in geany? I see that the fluxbox and jwm menus generated just fine.

              I have only ever seen it shortly after installation during the first or second dist-upgrade , but this has happened more than once now.

                I had the same problem, after some antiX 21 updates on different computers, the Games, Multimedia, Preferences and System submenus disappeared.

                Even after I apply below command in terminal, Applications submenus is not displayed.

                $ sudo desktop-menu --write-out-global

                Outside the subject of this topic:

                Does anyone know if there is any command that forces the display of ALL .desktop files that exist in antiX 21?

                I need to test all .desktop files from work started by Robin which is available on GitLab antix-contribs https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/antix-desktop-files/-/tree/main/.desktop in antiX 21. Several .desktop files are not displayed even after replacing them in their respective folder and restarting antiX.

                Grateful.

                – – – – –

                Ocorreu o mesmo problema comigo, após algumas atualizações do antiX 21 em computadores diferentes, os submenus Jogos, Multimídia, Preferências e Sistema sumiram.

                Mesmo após eu aplicar o comando abaixo no terminal, os submenus de Aplicativos não são exibidos.

                $ sudo desktop-menu --write-out-global

                Fora do assunto deste tópico:

                Alguém saberia se existe algum comando que force a exibição de TODOS os arquivos .desktop que existem no antiX 21?

                Eu preciso testar todos os arquivos .desktop do trabalho iniciado pelo Robin, que está disponível no GitLab antix-contribs https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/antix-desktop-files/-/tree/main/.desktop no antiX 21. Vários arquivos .desktop não são exibidos, mesmo após a substituição na sua respectiva pasta e a reinicialização do antiX.

                Grato.

                  I’ve never experience this problem. I do know that antiX stores, somewhere, the default configuration for the menus of each window manager, in all supported languages, I think I found that once, long ago…
                  What I found was this command that’s inside the file firsr-run-script (in usr/share/desktop-session)

                  Does that help in restoring the menu?

                  P.

                  On the off-topic question from Marcelo – The fastest way to view all .desktop files is using app-select. One other alternative is using FT10’s menu – that displays every single .desktop file…

                    I’m guessing it must be caused by something I did or changed, then. I ran refresh menu and its fixed. Next time, before I update, I will do it manually.

                      I refresh the menu any time I either add a few new applications or I do something that is likely to change one or more entries within the menus; haven’t experienced any problems with that approach.

                        Backup ~./icewm

                        $ mv .icewm icewm.{date}

                        cp or tar or rsync files from /etc/skel I used rsync.

                        $ rsync -av –progress /etc/skel/.icewm/ /home/{user}/.icewm/

                        You may have to change ownership as well:

                        $ chown {user}: /home/{user}/.icewm/

                        Logout and login, that should fix applications menu gone in icewm. It would probably work for other wms as well, but I did not test this.

                          Is there a fix? I’m similar massage to @BobC after I do an update.
