Thanks to all your feedback, I can now release the 0.10.1 version of the my-offline-repo script.

Things that are new:

– Interface:
* Replaced the “Quit” buttons with “Close” buttons.
* Replaced the “Back” buttons with an arrow icon (gtk-go-back-ldr).
* Search entry box was changed so “Enter” key is ignored.
* Added a button for launching a “Configuration” window (in “Download” window and “Install” window).
* Created 2 windows to change and save configuration options.

– Inner workings:
* Fixed the terminal problem and improved Terminal messages.
* In the window describing the amount of packages/dependencies that will be downloaded, a new “LIST” button will let you see the names of all of them before downloading.
* Changed the log file name to 0-errors.log so that it can be easily found inside the gigantic collection of packages.
* If any package fails to download, a window at the end of the process will inform you and display a list of the troublesome packages (also, you can see this info in the 0-errors.log file).
* Added a mor.conf file to load/save configuration options for the program.
* Now you can save a default Download_Directory and Install_Directory (repo directory for when installing), so it no longer defaults to the “Downloads” folder every time you launch the program.
* One can change how the search matching works (separated between APT search and PI/REPO search). “Normal” means it tries to match ALL words entered for search. “Strict” means that it will search for packages that start with the word entered. “Exact” is used for searching the exact package name (useful for when you know the exact name of a package and want it to be the only search result).
* Added an option to delete old versions of a package when a new one is being downloaded (can be toggled off if you want to keep a collection of ALL package versions).
* Now you can select the amount of dependencies you want to download with the program by selecting the corresponding option. “Minimum” will only download the direct dependencies listed for the package by the packager. “2-levels” will let you download the direct dependencies of the dependencies (“2 levels” of dependencies, minimum + dependencies of minimum). “apt-rdepends” will generate the list of dependencies based on the apt-rdepends output (for when it is installed). Finally, the default that was working until now, “ALL” will download all needed dependencies, specified by apt-cache.
* You can select to not download all dependencies that contain the word you specify to “Filter out”. I have set it to “systemd”, to avoid possible errors if someone tries to install it in antiX. You can leave it empty if you want to download all unfiltered packages. Note: it filters out the packages while the “list of packages and dependencies” is being built. It will not filter them out in the search.

– Translation:
* updated pt and pt_BR translations.

I think I am close to finished with this project. Any ideas or changes will be considered and added, but I don’t think I should add too many more functions to the program. It should have achieved its objective.

Bonus: Funny thing. If you don’t add the “local repo” to sourcelists (by NOT clicking the corresponding button), you can use the “Install” window to search and install packages like a very basic app installer. If you change “APT Search match” to “normal”, it becomes a basic gui frontend to apt search.

If so, the “blacklist” probably should be assessed on the system at runtime.
FWIW, tested here on antiX17 (w/ debian “stretch” repos)
required: 70 items
important: 55 items
standard: 61 items
(I can post an attachment containing lists of the packagenames, if requested.)

If not, or perhaps as a separate consideration…
the script might (should?) at least discount a fixed set of known “extraneous” packages. For instance, continuing the example of “mirage”, I discovered that a package named “libdebian-installer4” is downloaded. Hmm, this package is neither “tagged Priority:{required,standard,important}” nor is it present on this machine (and “mirage” is, in fact, already/currently installed, FWIW.)

In the above example, the configured setting “Create Dependency:ALL” (sic) had been specified.
Regardless which setting, seems to me the “..installer4” package is irrelavent, er, extraneous.

As explained in a PM to Xecure, based on my testing I’m now recommending to omit “rdepends” from the UI “Create Dependency”(sic) picklist. As for the “ALL” picklist item, its use yields 150 packages downloaded (vs 6, when ‘minimum’ is selected) ~~ including “…passwd, dpkg, debconf, coreutils…”

The dialog window titled “CONFIGURATION” begs inclusion of a Help button
leading to a description of “what means SearchMatch strict, vs normal”
as well as a hint regarding why/when “minimial” vs “2-level” will be desirable.

If the script considered a “blacklist”, it seems to me (based on my limited testing, so far) that “2-level” would be the most productive default setting.

Thanks for the feedback, skidoo. i will study the Priority:{required,standard,important} tags and see how I can integrate them in the script. If this improves how the dependency list is built and reduces the amount of dependencies in a reliable way, I am sure it will bring the script to the next level.

Yes. I will also add a Help window for the configuration file/window, as some option names are not very intuitive. APT search and general search are meant for the “Search window” (find the app I want to download/install), and not for building the package list. Also, explaining the minimum, 2-levels and “ALL” options is also a good idea. 2-levels worked for me for more than half of all my tests. The ones that always failed with “2-levels” were the ones coming from buster-backports (like libreoffice latest) and some from mxrepo, so I still believe defaulting to “ALL” is best for these cases.

If no-one else is interested in the apt-rdepends option, I can remove it from the script (or comment it out in case someone needs it in the future).

Not at all. I have made it so that it isn’t needed. The program will only protest if the option “apt-rdepends” is selected (and it is not installed in your system) at the exact moment it is going to start building the dependency list. it will then tell you that it cannot find apt-rdepends and will default to “ALL” option.

Essa ideia só é válida se isso não for algo sofrível para você programar, se para incluir a url ou link do download de cada pacote for algo bem simples, algo do tipo, um ou duas linhas, ou ainda algo que você já saiba, por favor avalie esta sugestão. Não quero gerar retrabalho para você, o programa está cada vez melhor!

O programa está sendo feito para ser executado no antiX, serve para baixar com um computador conectado na internet e serve para instalar localmente em outro computador ou no mesmo computador sem acesso a internet, eu vislumbro o “my-offline-repo-v_xxxx.zip” ou algum recurso dele saindo o antiX e podendo ser utilizado também em outra distribuição Linux ou no Windows, apenas para baixar os programas.

As pessoas que utilizam termos em inglês no Brasil em seu dia a dia normalmente sabem o que estão falando ou simplesmente se acostumaram com a terminologia, mas para ser fácil para todos os usuários “Baixar Programa” ou “Baixar Dependências” é melhor do que usar “Download”.

Não se preocupe, por enquanto, com a tradução, eu te ajudarei no que for preciso. Eu espero que outros colegas possam colaborar e traduzir o “my-offline-repo-v_xxxx.zip” para o maior número possível de idiomas.

possible to include the url or download link for each package

The my-local-repo program provides a graphical interface for utilizing existing debian APT//dpkg utilities.
The output of those utilities is not designed to “speak” the exact URL from which a package is downloaded.

Even for an already downloaded and/or installed package, if we “apt-cache policy <packagename>”
only the Suite, and Component along with a generic (http-redir) “server url” are known, never the exact “package-downloaded-from url” (aka “download link”).

From a Windows system (any O/S), via web browser you can visit https://packages.debian.org
Search for package, download the *.deb file… and can follow the hyperlinks to reach the download pages for each its listed “Dependencies” and download each of these also.

Very interesting window to your country’s history. Thanks for that.

About translation, there is a file in /locale/pt_BR/ named my-offline-repo.po that contains all strings being translated (you can open it with any text editor). Editing this file is the best procedure. Then you can send it to me and I will replace it in the main program.
I mainly used “Baixar” when possible to refer to download, but if you think using the English word is better, I will replace them all.

About creating a script to download from any operating system, that is impossible for me (not enough knowledge, maybe a wget could work independent of platform, but I am not sure), but I can create a small script to generate a file with the urls to download each package.
On the my-offline-repo program, when selecting the package you want to “download”, the window that pops up asking you if you want to proceed has a “LIST” (LISTA) button. Clicking it will display the list of packages that will be downloaded. You can select all of them (Right-click > Select All) and copy them (and then cancel the download process before it starts). Save them in a file.
Then, in the new small script, you paste the list there and it should generate a new list with the URLs to download each package. You can save that into another file. How you later download them is up to you.
What the script would do is:
apt-get "$SOURCE_REPO" download "$PACKAGE_NAME" --print-uris | awk '{print $1}'
Where $SOURCE_REPO is for cases that don’t use the main Debian and antiX buster repos (for example, backports is “-t buster-backports”, or if using mx-repo something else), and $PACKAGE_NAME is the name of the package.
And do this for every package in the list.
If you are interested in me developing a GUI for this little script, PM me and I will create it and send it to you. It will only be able to generate a file with URLs. Downloading from Windows or other distros will be up to you.

Na maioria das vezes, eu percebo que, o que é mais difícil é compreender as traduções, do que fazer edições nos arquivos de configurações do antiX, compreender algumas traduções parece um desafio. Se o seu idioma principal não for o inglês e se preferir rescrever a explicação no seu idioma, provavelmente a tradução ficará mais fácil de entender. Teve um colega em outro fórum, que disse que também frequenta este fórum, no outro fórum ele se irritou porque eu envio texto em português e a tradução para o inglês, aí ele enviou um trecho do texto em idioma, acredito eu, em idioma árabe. Por incrível que pareça a tradução direta ficou mais compreensível.

Se não é possível disponibilizar as url ou link dos downloads dos pacotes do seu programa, não tem problema, era só uma ideia para deixá-lo ainda melhor e mais completo, mas não se preocupe com isso ele já está muito maior e melhor do que se for comparar com a primeira versão que você fez a gentileza de programa e de disponibilizar para testarmos.

I’m curious to see what solution you find for use on “another system“.
The appropriate (for the target system) “uri” is tied to the “Suite”, but that detail is garnered from the sources list(s) at time of download.

By “PM” it is used in forum sites to refer to “Personal Message” (what you see under my name when you log in, “Send a message”).

Anyway, I have integrated the request under the List (“LISTA”) window.
Process: Launch the my-offline-repo script, click “Download Dependencies” (Baixar Dependências), search for the package you are interested, select it from the list and click “OK”. After building the dependency list, a window titled “Downloading $PACKAGE_NAME” (Baixando $PACKAGE_NAME) will inform you of the amount of dependencies for your select package. Click the “LIST” (LISTA) button. A new window will pop up. Now click the “URL” button. It will take some time to build the URL list. After it finishes, a new window will display all URLS for all packages. Copy the list and paste it in a file.
Now you can take your file with URLs and use it to download all those packages from any Operating system. How you download is up to you. If you knwo of a program you can simply paste a list of links and that will download the files (maybe jdownloader), then use that.

Sistema operacional utilizado nos testes: antiX 19.2 64 bits (antiX-19.2_x64-full.iso) atualizado no dia 10-09-2020

Processo: Baixar o Opera e suas dependências.

Passos: no computador com acesso a internet, executei o my-offline-repo.sh, abriu uma janela, cliquei em “Baixar Dependências”, abriu outra janela, selecionei a pasta /home/Usuario/Downloads/My_Offline_repo_0101, em “Nome do pacote”, digitei “opera”, cliquei no botão para buscar (ícone lupa), exibiu outra janela “Procurando instalador de pacote antiX (PI)”, uma lista foi exibida, contendo um pacote PI e 9 pacotes APT, selecionei “PI opera_64”, Ok, solicitou a senha de usuário, Ok, exibiu outra janela “Adicionando lista de fontes e atualizando lista de pacotes”, exibiu outra janela com a mensagem “Baixando opera 64 Programa selecionado: opera_64 Pasta Repo:/home/Usuario/Downloads/My_Offline_repo_0101 (amd64) Total de pacotes: 298 Deseja baixá-los:”, possui três botões “LISTA”, “Sim” e “Cancelar”, cliquei em “LISTA”, botão direito do mouse, selecionar tudo, botão direito do mouse, Copiar, colei no Geany a relação de pacotes, Fechar, na janela anterior cliquei em “Sim”, a pasta “amd64” foi criada em /home/Usuario/Downloads/My_Offline_repo_0101, exibiu outra janela de texto “Baixando Baixando theme, apt, cdebconfig, coreutils e etc”, na pasta amd64 eu consegui visualizar os pacotes sendo baixados, no final do download exibiu outra janela “Lista de pacotes criada opera_64 e suas dependências forma baixadas. Sua lista de pacotes Repo locais foi atualizado. Um novo arquivo opera-64_amd64.repo foi criado”, cliquei em “Fechar”, foram baixados 298 arquivos, criado o arquivo “0_errors.log” e “Packages.gz”, Fechar.

Com o computador desconectado da internet, executei o my-offline-repo.sh, cliquei em “Instalar do Repo”, abriu outra janela, a mensagem foi exibida “LEMBRE-SE de SEMPRE remover o repo do sourcelist antes de sair do programa”, selecionei a pasta /home/Usuario2/Downloads/My_Offline_repo_0101, cliquei em “+ Adicionar repo”, a janela “apt update” abriu e alterou o local para ser buscado os pacotes offline, Ok, digitei o nome do programa: opera, cliquei em “Pesquisar”, exibiu outra janela para selecionar o pacote: REPO opera_64 e outros 2 pacotes APT, selecionei REPO opera_64, Ok, abriu outra janela que iniciou a instalação, com a seta para esquerda/direita, selecionei a opção “Sim”, Enter, a instalação começou e foi exibido o progresso, no final da instalação exibiu outra janela “APT – Install”, cliquei em OK, em seguida cliquei em “- Remover repo da lista”, abriu outra janela “apt update”, ficou tentando conectar com o http://deb.debian.org/debian e outras url ou links, outra janela foi exibida “apte – Update Concluído”, Ok, Fechar.
