Are antix’s repositories dead? When I try to install some applications many error messages are shown on the terminal. Here are some error messages:

::There are many posts on the forum that deal with a similar topic; you may search for answers and you’ll find good tips are already there.
Please post your repositories, output of ‘inxi -Fzxr’.
This is most likely
A) a temporary internet issue not on your side (ISP, repository down/maintenance etc.),
B) mis-configuration of repositories.A) Switch repositories using Control Centre -> Software -> Repo Manager.
You may open terminal and ping the server address, e.g. ‘ping espejito.fder.edu.uy’ showed that packages are correctly transmitted to the server.
If it was down, it is up for me.
B) Should be revealed via examining the output of ‘inxi -Fzxr’May 27, 2022 at 5:21 am #83698MemberPelucia Siffred

::I did a test, I removed the antiX repository (sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/backup/) and typed “sudo apt-get update “. So I tried to install the package again and the following error appeared:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libeudev1 : Conflicts: libudev1:i386 (< 232:246:3.2.9.1.0antix7) but 247.3-7 is to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.Do I always need to use antiX repositories? Can’t I just use the debian repositories?

::1) Use antiX repository:
This is antiX Linux and its repositories should always be used.
The idea is to have a Debian-based system without ‘systemd’ with additional capabilities such as live-USB and custom/in-house tools.
These tools and packages (re-)compiled without ‘systemd’ are placed in the antiX repository.
Since many of these packages are already installed, conflict with those available in the Debian-only repositories occurs as you have found out.
Please, do restore the antiX repository!2) ‘ping espejito.fder.edu.uy’ successful:
Then I guess the repository should work well now (unless some maintenance is undergoing).3) Output of ‘inxi -Fzxr’:
If the problem still persists, please switch the repository as described in my previous post.
Select some mirror that is geographically close which usually results in faster download of the packages.May 27, 2022 at 11:12 am #83710Moderator

::I don’t know why this happened but something is very wrong with the antiX repo you use https://espejito.fder.edu.uy/mxlinux/packages/antix/bullseye
There’s only the dev part available in the pool for antiX bullseye, see
https://espejito.fder.edu.uy/mxlinux/packages/antix/bullseye/pool/
So please change to another antiX repo, easily done with repo manager

::Thank you sybok. I can ping espejito.fder.edu.uy successful, however the same problem still persists. I managed to solve the problem by moving the repository to another country as you suggested. Now everything works fine.

::Thank you caprea, change from another antiX repo worked for me. I don’t want to use the fastest repository, I want to use the most stable repository. What is the most stable antiX repository? I want to ensure that the repository will always be working when I need it. What repository do you suggest?

::I am afraid that repository may not work all the time e.g. because of maintenance.
Also, you may want to use the most up to date repositories (where the new packages appear as first); there were several posts about e.g. kernel upgrades that had to propagate to the mirror-repositories from the most up to date one.
I *guess* the most up to date antiX repository is the one in Greece (URL contains ‘gr’) and the Debian one in USA (‘us’) but I am not sure.May 28, 2022 at 5:31 pm #83753Memberstevesr0
::Hi Pelucia,
There was a thread in 2021 which included a discussion how to check the status of different mirrors. See Post # 59798 by Xecure and some of the prior posts to understand that. (This mentions also the mirmon tool which checks and displays the status of different mirrors. While its listing isn’t always completely the same as the results using Xecure’s script, it is easy to view (antixlinux.com/mirmon/antix-mirror-status.html).
In addition, there was a recent thread suggesting people try a substitute package that runs apt and looks for the “fastest” mirror. Search for “NALA”.

::For the site: antixlinux.com/mirmon/antix-mirror-status.html
Any site that lists OK in the Last Stat line should be acceptable.Here are a couple that I’ve used that rarely fail in my usage over the years:
mxlinux.csail.mit.edu
http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu
mirrors.rit.edu
la.mxrepo.com- This reply was modified 11 months, 1 week ago by Brian Masinick.

::Thanks a lot for the tips guys, I’ll look at everything you explained. Now I have more information to troubleshoot repositories.
