OK so I love aqemu works great for Windows with USB pass through…..butt
spice-client-glib-acl-helperMy problem is I can only get USB pass through working for root ,if I do
Terminal
sudo aqemuIt works fine but I don’t want to run aqemu as root
As I recall I had to add a user group or name to the spice user, or USB, user?
Please help

::Er Wotizzit;
This is a pretty small forum.
Quite probable noeone here used or has has info on the aqemu tool.First step would be read the man page, It might not be as easy as
changing a group but worth trying. More likely is you will need to
create a policy.October 14, 2022 at 12:20 am #90694Member

I did not have to add my username to a “spice” group, but I did have to add my username to the libvirt group:
sudo adduser USER_NAME_GOES_HERE libvirtAnd then I think reboot for it to take effect. Or restart the libvirtd daemon.
Also I did not use aqemu, but instead used virt-manager. I followed a couple of my favorite Linux video makers for the installation and setup instructions, mainly the first one by Mental Outlaw:

Thanks andyprough for sharing your experience. Great refresher for me as I dropped using this great virtual machine some time ago due to some incompatibility with antiX – I think I remember it was insisting on installation of libelogind0, if I am not mistaken. This was inconsistent with antiX strategy as *elogind*-free system going forward.
If anything changed I may need to revisit this great virtual machine infrastructure…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

If anything changed I may need to revisit this great virtual machine infrastructure…I should go back through all the steps I took and maybe write up a how-to. I can’t recall if elogind was a dependency. I don’t think it should be, as libvirtd can be set up pretty easily using different init systems.

I thought I remembered that installation of the entire kaboodle of KVM/QEMU entailed installation of libelogind0 somewhere on the way…
Having gone back to the install process I am noticing this happening upon running the entire install:sudo apt install qemu-kvm libvirt-clients libvirt-daemon-system bridge-utils virtinst libvirt-daemon virt-manager -y
The above installation of KVM/QEMU appears to install libelogind0. It appears that qemu-system-x86 and libbrlapi0.8 as part of installation do require libelogind0.
Not sure yet how to get around this…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

Not sure yet how to get around this…You might have to wait until antiX 22.
On Void Linux, you can create an “IGNOREPKG” list for dependencies that aren’t really necessary in order to run your programs. I’ve never heard if Debian had any similar means of just ignoring a dependency or if you have to re-compile the package to get the same effect. I’ve installed and run some packages on Void that way that claimed they needed dbus, even though they didn’t really need dbus. If there was such an IGNOREPKG thing on Debian, then you could try to install and run the whole virt-manager/KVM/QEMU kaboodle without libelogind0 and see if it would run or not.

Understood. I saw this from the content of your post. I did not mean to put in question your statement but rather wanted to determine where I saw inclusion of libelogind0, which made me drop QEMU/KVM in the past.
