    Dear all,

I present to you the Non-Governmental Organization – NGO Associação Mutirão and the Center for Children and Adolescents – CCA Jd. Fontalis.

Then the text of mr. Tony Riber the text of mr. Tony Riber, current manager of the Center for Children and Adolescents – CCA Jd. Fontális, where I volunteered services in the implementation of antiX on computers that were donated to this institution by individuals or legal entities (companies).

I would like to thank the creator of antiX, the developers of antiX, the programmers of the antiX community and the teachers and masters here on the forum who always teach me, because without their teachings and all the support, I would not have the technical conditions to implement the antiX on such a wide variety of computers.

On the day June 10, 2020 I started my participations here on the forum, since then, I have been learning constantly… Certainly, I will never be able to repay all the good they do for me, sharing their knowledge, but rest assured that I multiply the learning here in Brazil and the stream of good goes on through actions.

    Thank you very much.

    ———-

    Prezados,

    Hello,

    I’m Tony Riber,

Thanks to the antiX administrators for authorizing the dissemination in this forum of the social project that I manage, to marcelocripe for helping me in the publication of this topic, in the photos and for volunteering services implementing antiX Linux on computers.

The social project that received antiX is the Center for Children and Adolescents – CCA, located at Rua Augusto Rodrigues, 291 Bairro Jd. Fontális, municipality São Paulo-SP, Brazil, CEP: 02360-010, Telephone: 55 11 2995-6432, E-mail: ccafontalis@gmail.com. We serve children aged 6 to 11 years and 11 months and teenagers aged 12 to 14 years and 11 months. Our current service capacity is 120 children and teenagers, in 2 different shifts, one shift in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The area covered by the provision of social services is in the districts of Tremembé and Jaçanã, located in the northern part of the capital of the State of São Paulo – Brazil. The Jardim Fontális neighborhood is in a densely populated region, with houses that are not properly designed (damp, poor lighting, no backyards and poor basic sanitation), characterized by disorderly occupations, whose population has subsistence difficulties and still suffers from a small number of educational, social and health equipment, as well as the absence of sporting and cultural equipment. According to local community leaders, the Jardim Fontális neighborhood has a population of approximately 60,000 inhabitants, with an average per capita income of one to two minimum wages (the current national minimum wage is R$1,110.00 or US$217.87 or E$179.08 for the US dollar exchange rate on 06-05-2021 in the amount of R$5.05 and E$6.14). Families in this territory are numerous, most of them have little schooling, which leads them to earn low wages from informal and temporary jobs. In view of this economic reality, the population feels pressured to seek employment without any qualification, causing the onset of social, economic and emotional frustrations and conflicts in their lives (information collected in informal conversations carried out in the social service service to families) . Thus, increasing the statistics of social inequality experienced by the disorderly increase of the Jd. Fontalis and region. The population of children and adolescents represents around 50% of the residents, and the other half is made up of young people, adults and the elderly.

The Center for Children and Adolescents – CCA of Jd. Fontális is managed by our headquarters, called Associação Mutirão do Pobre (something like “Association Joint Effort of the Poor”), National Register of Legal Entities – CNPJ: 62.249.727/0001-64, located at Rua dos Filhos da Terra, 944 Bairro Jd. Filhos da Terra, municipality of São Paulo-SP, Brazil, ZIP CODE: 02325-00, Phone(s): 55 11 2240-3619 and 55 11 2267-4084, Email: contato.mutirao@gmail.com, Website: https://associacaomutirao.org.br/ (in Brazilian Portuguese language).

History of the Mutirão do Pobre Association:

It operates in the northern region of the city/municipality of São Paulo, districts of Jaçanã and Tremembé, in the neighborhoods of Vila Paulistana, Jardim Fontális, Jardim Flor de Maio, Vila Ayrora, Jd. Clean Field, Jd. Happiness, Children of the Earth and surroundings. It was founded in 1961, 60 years ago, by the voluntary action of a group that helped the Santa Casa de Misericórdia of São Paulo, with the purpose of developing a sanitization work with people with tuberculosis due to the precarious conditions of the houses at the time. As a solution, the group started to help these families with home improvements, in a joint effort scheme. Parallel to the community organization process, other difficulties were detected, such as income measurement and family breakdown. The Association expanded its scope of service, extending its service to children, teenagers, young people and the family, since then offering professionalization courses in: IT, carpentry, manicure, hairdressing, literacy, assistance service, such as the “Viva Leite” program , the distribution of Food Baskets and the Mothers’ Club, with guidance on public health and related topics; in addition to manual activities, embroidery, sewing, knitting, crochet, etc. With the mission of providing the human promotion of needy people and people with livelihood problems, enabling means to conquer their citizenship, the entity has only worked in the last 05 years , approximately 10,000 people.

    Projects associated with:
    -Income generation project, partnership signed with Alliance Company;
    -Viva Leite Project, a partnership signed with the São Paulo Government Social Development Secretariat;
    – Young Apprentice Project, partnership signed with the Ministry of Labor and the Beauty Center, Solidarity Fund partnership.

For the existence of the Mutirão do Pobre Association, we depend on an agreement with the Municipality of São Paulo – PMSP, on donations from companies and individuals, and on voluntary services.

We need to maintain the infrastructure of the buildings, as the agreements do not cover all maintenance costs, during the pandemic, our resources were even more limited, with any donation being essential for the maintenance and existence of this non-profit organization.

If you are interested in donating to our Institution, the bank details are as follows:

PIX: 62249727/0001-64 or Branch: 0617 Checking Account: 37664-4 (Itau bank)

    Olá,

    Eu sou Tony Riber,

I am very thankful for Tony Riber, for Marcelo Cripe, and also to everyone in this forum who faithfully shares information, spends time, some in development, some in testing, some in documentation, some in helping and teaching, some in creating photography, art work – here is the truth – it takes each one of us and the many different skills in language, writing words or code, to collectively share.

There is not a single thing contributed, whether a question, an answer, a script that has not yet become an official part of antiX – whatever it may be – to me, it is all a contributing force to freely available software and definitely an important part of what has made antiX what it is.

We owe much to our founder, anticapitalista, but he has help developing, and without this community, the distributions, ours and many others, would be lacking. Most of us wouldn’t even know about them. Therefore, I repeat what I’ve said many times over the years. thank you to everyone who is an active participant in the free software movement! Keep it up; it DOES make a positive difference; this thread proves it once again.

Watching this kids reminded me why I spend so much time trying to make antiX completely localized in pt and as easy to use as possible… I hope they grow up with expanded horizons, not used to see life from “closed windows”

    P.

Edit: how many windows does the kid on the last picture has open? Wow…

It’s true… antiX will be highly tested by them, it will be a “fire test”. I even know which ISO I installed on that computer, it was the ISO “antiX-19-legacy-bet2_386-base.iso”, one of the Xecure gifts that can work very well on computers that have a Via video card, like this is the case of the one in the last photo.

    – – – – –

    Yes, indeed. Same here.

    Great work, Marcelo!

I hope they grow up with expanded horizons

But they need to learn also an reflected intercourse with computers. There are much more exciting and interesting things than just this in the world, and if you look at the children in our country many of them already get withdrawal symptoms (really!) when they have no access to their smartphone or computer or internet for some hours only… So you need to teach them an reflected intercourse, so they don’t get addicted these machines. They are ready for this only from a certain age onward. But then it can expand their horizon, the more when they learn to distinguish between fake and fraud (always present in the depth of the internet) and trustworthy information resources. The widely by modern people beloved bubbles (so called “social” media) are not always the best place to retrieve objective information, since they do actively filter what you will see on your screen, showing you only opinions they know you would like to see, hoping to make you stay longer this way, generating higher advertising revenues. This is the opposite of expanded horizons…

What I want to say by this: A computer room is really great. But in addition to that you need to teach the children instead of allowing them just to sit on their own in front of the screens in their spare time.

And another thought: Please care for their correct body posture when working at the PCs. This is something really important to avoid later postural deformites. Sitting balls instead of chairs could help, this is practised in some schools already in our country.

Students sitting at desks on sitting balls while learning

    Greetings

    Great work marcelocripe and tony.riber!
