I have made no progress with the original problem posted, the cd is not read through and an error 2 is produced, although every track is processed at least at title level.
I do not believe this is a permissions problem because there are files created by asunder on the specified drive. As previously reported messages are not written to /var/log/asunder.log, this file is not created, but are found in /var/log/messaqes which looks like a general applications log.
The playlist file .wav.m3u is created and the content looks like one would wish to see. The only .wav file created is for track 1 and does not contain music with 44 bytes present.
I attach what I thought may be relevant diagnostics. Any suggestions thankfully received although I do realise it is only a minor problem.
