ATI Radeon X300 issue

Hello,
I have a problem with 3D graphics acceleration after I install antix on my hard disk, for example glxgears shows a black window only, while it works in the live session if I boot from DVD.

Hmmm. Does glxgears ran in terminal say anything else?

Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.  The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
314 frames in 5.0 seconds = 62.607 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.010 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.007 FPS

That is just my readout with the linux kernel supplied intel i915 driver and I see you have the proprietary amd driver.

Edit. My bad. radeon is the open source driver

glxgears doesn’t give any output if I run it, but it gives (albeit very clunky) if I run vblank_mode=0 glxgears, see the attached screenshot

In case anyone is interested,
glxgears works if using lxde as desktop environment. Nothing else was changed.
