    Edit your .Xresources file with vim then write the file. To auto reload .Xresources add the below to your .vimrc.

    autocmd BufWritePost ~/.Xresources !xrdb %

    Also if you are over using shift+: for the command line in vim. shift is no longer needed just : colon

    “====[ Swap : and ; to make colon commands easier to type ]======

    nnoremap ; :
    nnoremap : ;
