Hello,
I am using antix on my desktop computer for some time and i couldn’t find a solution for my problem.
Anytime i watch a movie from local storage or online the brightness adjusts itself, either it’s going slightly brighter either slightly darker. And it does that randomly. I haven’t noticed if it’s doing it in other situation. Is there any application installed by default that might do that?

::First time I see this. On my intel atom tablet and hybrid laptop with antiX 19, this never happend to me.
Did you install something special (like Redshift) to manage colour/brightness changes? Did you install nvidia drivers or some proprietary drivers that may have that option set up?
If for both above the answer is no, give us the specs of you laptop:

::@xecure, taifun stated desktop not laptop.
If you do not have redshift or similar.
Could be soft or hardware. Couple of questions on top of what xecure asked for which might help with figuring out what is going on.
Have you tried a different kernel version ?.
Is the brightness changing randomly during playback no matter which player is used, same for playback within browser ?.
Or when you start playback then staying same level throughout movie. Can you plug in to another monitor or TV and see if you have same situation.

::I have not installed anything like Redshift, or at least anything that i am aware of.
I have not tried to change the kernel.
The thing is that before antix i had windows and i have never seen it changing brightness like that. The problem appeared just when i changed to antix.
It does change the brightness if i use any media player like SMPlayer, and also in the browser on Netflix.
The change in brightness is like a transition, sometimes it changes more frequently sometimes less frequently. Maybe after one minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or not at all.
The monitor i have is a LG 19EN33S. I will try with with a TV when i will have the chance. Until then here is the output of that command:inxi -Fxz System: Host: antix1 Kernel: 4.9.212-antix.1-amd64-smp x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 8.3.0 Desktop: IceWM 1.8.3 Distro: antiX-19.2_x64-full Hannie Schaft 27 March 2020 base: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) Machine: Type: Desktop Mobo: ASRock model: 760GM-GS3 serial: <filter> BIOS: American Megatrends v: P1.20 date: 03/28/2012 CPU: Topology: Triple Core model: AMD Athlon II X3 450 bits: 64 type: MCP arch: K10 rev: 3 L2 cache: 1536 KiB flags: lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4a svm bogomips: 19238 Speed: 800 MHz min/max: 800/3200 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 2000 2: 2000 3: 800 Graphics: Device-1: AMD RS780L [Radeon 3000] vendor: ASRock driver: radeon v: kernel bus ID: 01:05.0 Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: ati, radeon unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa resolution: 1366x768~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: AMD RS780 (DRM 2.49.0 / 4.9.212-antix.1-amd64-smp LLVM 7.0.1) v: 3.3 Mesa 18.3.6 direct render: Yes Audio: Device-1: AMD SBx00 Azalia vendor: ASRock driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 00:14.2 Sound Server: ALSA v: k4.9.212-antix.1-amd64-smp Network: Device-1: Realtek RTL-8100/8101L/8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter driver: 8139too v: 0.9.28 port: e800 bus ID: 02:05.0 IF: eth0 state: unknown speed: 100 Mbps duplex: full mac: <filter> Drives: Local Storage: total: 232.89 GiB used: 127.24 GiB (54.6%) ID-1: /dev/sda vendor: Samsung model: HD253GJ size: 232.89 GiB Partition: ID-1: / size: 38.01 GiB used: 26.61 GiB (70.0%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda1 ID-2: swap-1 size: 200.0 MiB used: 268 KiB (0.1%) fs: swap dev: /dev/sda3 Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 28.5 C mobo: N/A Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A Info: Processes: 163 Uptime: 40m Memory: 3.37 GiB used: 1.24 GiB (36.7%) Init: SysVinit runlevel: 5 Compilers: gcc: 8.3.0 Shell: bash v: 5.0.3 inxi: 3.0.36November 8, 2020 at 9:35 am #44595Member

If possible, try to update to a 4.19 kernel and see if you continues to experience the strange behaviour.
From package installer, select the 4.19 antiX kernel under kernel category.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::Thx everyone for your advice.
I have update the kernel to 4.19 and apparently the problem disappeared for now. I will keep using it like this to see if it’s not appearing again.
i didn’t even know the monitor had a menu hidden behind the FUNC. button… I will try that too if the problem comes back.November 13, 2020 at 10:14 am #44894Membertaifun
::So, maybe, it was not the kernel. The SUPER ENERGY SAVING was on and now i turned it off and no more automatic brightness adjustment!!!
I still don’t know why this did not happened before installing antix, but i’m glad that the problem is gone.Thx again.
