Hello,
I’m using MX Linux. From its package installer, I switched from the MX 4.15 kernel to 4.9.91-antix.1-amd64-smp kernel.
I just wonder if this 4.9 antix kernel branch will be maintained and receive security updates in the future.
Or do I have to move to a newer kernel ?
Thanks for reading and helping.
Hi Cyrilus,
Thanks for the link. Yes, kernel 4.9 is LTS. But I suppose Antix 4.9 kernel is a “modified” one. Can we hope for instance the same support as the Debian 4.9 one (4.9.0-5 => 4.9.0-6 => etc.) since Stretch release to its end of life ?
Compared to Debian LTS support, it appears that most of the kernels provided by MX have a very short support. 4.15 is already outdated. So my question refers to Antix policy concerning kernels support in time.
You do not have the latest version. The latest secure version is 4.9.104 see here: antiX kernels
antiX will keep updating that kernel until it (the kernel or the distro) reaches its EOL.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
Many thanks for your link.
But is there a way to make kernel 4.9 branch updates automatic ?
Or do I have to install/update manually newer versions ?
Manually – it is safer.
