        1. Add firefox & to the bottom of the startup file (via control centre > Session > User Desktop Session

        2. Maybe this will help.

        how-to-schedule-shutdown-every-day

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

          1) Firefox autostart:
It depends on the desktop you use, e.g. my fluxbox configuration contains an executable file

          ~/.fluxbox/startup

which is executed at login (= startup of the desktop) where you can simply put a line

          firefox-esr &

          2) Shutdown:
This can be achieved e.g. via cron but I find this solution too crude (probably because not used to cron or I would like to avoid issues if system time not set properly), perhaps someone can offer an alternative.

The easiest GUI way to schedule a shutdown is installing qshutdown, using synaptic (I think it’s available in synaptic out of the box). Set it to automatically start (from it’s config menu) and time the shutdown to the time you want…

            EDIT:
The easiest way to do both tasks you want is doing what anticapitalista suggested.

Adapting what anticapitalista said to layman’s terms:

Assuming you are using the default antiX desktop (icewm):
            1. – Click the menu icon, on the bottom left corner of the screen then click Control Centre
            2. – On Control Centre click the session tab, then the User Desktop Session icon (the green rocket icon)
            3. – A text file, listing all applications that the system starts automatically when booting appears
Scroll down to the end of the file and, to automaticaly start firefox, paste there:

            firefox &

and then add another line to set the automatic shutdown at 21:30:

            shutdown -h 21:30 &

4- Save the text file (CRTL + s) and restart antiX. Firefox should start automatically, and also the system should automatically shutdown at 21:30…

            P.

              Hello,

I used the solution from anticapitalista
–> 1. Add “firefox &” to the bottom of the startup file (via control centre > Session > User Desktop Session

But for the shutdown, i need a day specific tabel. So I tryed to edit the crontab like this:
              45 21 * * 1-5 root shutdown -h now
              00 8 * * 0,6 root shutdown -h now

But this dont works. I have some Questions for this.
              1. Do I need to use the space key, or TAB kex betwen the single datas like ” 45 21 * * …..”?
              2. Is it the right place (crontab). I am logged in as an other (standard)user?

              THX
